One of the main Twitch streamers in July was tarik, who attracted a large audience thanks to the community broadcast of the major Valorant championship. He failed to catch up with xQc, but was able to get ahead of such creators as Gaules, Rubius, and AdinRoss. Among the girls, Amouranth was unmatched as always, while half of the top was made up of South Korean VTubers. In the new article, Streams Charts overviews the results of the month and talks about the most popular categories and channels on Twitch.
Most popular categories in July 2022
Just Chatting was the most popular category on Twitch in July, amassing 269.8M Hours Watched in a month, which is 7M more (+2.7%) than in June. At the same time, the category’s Peak Viewers indicator dropped from 1.3M to 846K viewers (-35%).
League of Legends took the second spot. The game from Riot Games has shown some growth in July, generating 121.3M Hours Watched (+2.4% compared to June figures) and 546K Peak Viewers (+16.7%). It should be noted that the group stages were in full swing in the LEC, LCS, LCK, and other regional leagues in July, so the category gained views mostly because of esports.
Valorant surpassed GTA V and took the third spot in the ranking of the most popular categories. The second game from Riot Games generated 121M Hours Watched in a month, which is 20M more (+18.8%) than it had in June. The Peak Viewers indicator also grew from 385K to 688K viewers (+79%). This was largely thanks to the VCT 2022: Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen. GTA V has shown growth as well, albeit not as significant: 120.1M Hours Watched (+15%) and 497K Peak Viewers (+15.6%).
The Apex Legends battle royale has climbed from the seventh spot to the fifth. The game generated 55.6M Hours Watched and 510K Peak Viewers. For comparison, it generated 50.2M Hours Watched and 206K Peak Viewers in June. It should be reminded that ALGS: 2022 Championship was held last month, and this event alone scored more than 11.2M Hours Watched and 500K Peak Viewers on Twitch.
In July, Minecraft has significantly improved its stats: the most popular sandbox in the world climbed from the ninth to the sixth spot, generating 53M Hours Watched (+33%), but only 755K Peak Viewers (-28.7%). The growth of the category in terms of total Hours Watched was strongly influenced by streamers from Spain and Latin America who regularly played on RP servers.
The CS:GO shooter dropped from the fifth to the seventh spot, generating 51.1M Hours Watched (-10%) and 1.14M Peak Viewers (+122%). The Peak Viewers mark was reached during IEM Cologne 2022.
At the end of the month, Fortnite took the eighth spot with a result of 47.7M Hours Watched (-9.5%) and 237K Peak Viewers (-74.7%). Closing the list were Dota 2 and Slots. Compared to June, both categories scored slightly more Hours Watched and increased their Peak Viewers indicators. Valve’s MOBA was rather successful in this respect thanks to being boosted by the Riyadh Masters 2022.
Most popular channels in July 2022
The most viewed streamer in July was xQc. Indicators of the Canadian creator have dropped slightly, but he still outperformed his closest competitors by generating 19.6M Hours Watched (-5.5%).
If tarik barely got into the ranking’s top 10 in June, then the American took the second spot in July. In a month, he generated 9.7M Hours Watched, which is 45% higher than his previous indicator. The community broadcast of VCT 2022: Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen provided him with large audience outreach, and his channel even set a personal Peak Viewers record (reaching nearly 188K viewers) during this tournament.
Gaules and AdinRoss were one step behind the former e-athlete, with 9.56M (-27%) and 9.34M (-45%) Hours Watched, respectively. The Brazilian streamer traditionally gathered viewers thanks to CS:GO and the IEM Cologne 2022 in particular, while the American generated some hype with a 24-hour marathon at the end of the month, during which he watched videos on YouTube, communicated with fans, and played slots.
Closing the top 5 most watched creators in July was loud_coringa: the Brazilian generated 8.4M Hours Watched (+65%) thanks to GTA V streams and Just Chatting. He was followed by Rubius who generated 7.78M (+116%). The Spaniard spent most of his time in Minecraft, playing the fifth installment of the KARMALAND mode. His compatriot IlloJuan has participated in about the same activities, generating 6.8M Hours Watched (+74%) over the month.
Closing the top 10 most watched streamers in July are Japanese fps_shaka (6.72M), Swede ROSHTEIN (6.39M), and German eliasn97 (6.38M). They slightly worsened their June figures in terms of audience coverage, but still remained in the top 10 at the end of the month. Among those whose indicators dropped a lot are ibai, auronplay, and Asmongold. Based on the results of June, they were in the top 5, but in July they could not even get into the top 10.
If tournament channels are included in the overall rating, then the ESL_CSGO channel, where the IEM Cologne 2022 tournament was broadcast, will take the second spot with a result of just over 10M Hours Watched. The LCK_Korea channel dedicated to League of Legends will take the seventh spot with a result of 7.85M.
Most popular female streamers in July 2022
Amouranth became the most popular female streamer in July 2022: in a month she generated 3.3M Hours Watched (-12%) and easily topped the top 10. As usual, she was unmatched in the Pools, Hot tubs and Beaches category.
Jinnytty came in second with 2.45M Hours Watched (+61%), and third was the rivers_gg channel with 1.59M Hours Watched (up 85%). Both channels mainly streamed in the Just Chatting, Minecraft, and Fall Guys categories. It should be noted that in June, rivers_gg reached only the tenth spot.
The new top 10 included several South Korean VTubers at once, who gathered a considerable number of viewers in Just Chatting category. But pokimane, who was in the top 3 last month, fell out of the ranking. It should be reminded that in mid-July, she announced that she would take a break from streaming for a while: the last time she went on the air was on July 13.
Most popular broadcasts in July 2022
The leader by Peak Viewers in July was the broadcast of the IEM Cologne 2022 final on the ESL_CSGO channel. The final between NAVI and FaZe Clan gathered 490K viewers. Coming second was Rubius with the KARMALAND stream dedicated to Minecraft (381K viewers), and in third place was the presentation of the new patch on the official Genshin Impact channel (339K viewers).
The top 5 of the ranking also included the TennoСon 2022 exhibition stream on the Warframe channel (338K viewers) and the joint podcast of AdinRoss with kickboxer Andrew Tate (269K viewers). Interestingly, xQc, ImKaiCenat, and other famous streamers were featured as guests.
The second top 5 of the ranking is mainly composed of community streams of tournament matches from tarik and Gaules, as well as broadcasts of Apex Legends and Maincast channels.
