The biggest Twitch event in July was La Velada del Año V, a boxing spectacle hosted by top Spanish streamer Ibai "Ibai" Llanos. The livestream, which featured popular content creators stepping into the ring, broke the platform’s all-time record for peak concurrent viewership. Ibai also overtook Ninja to become the most-followed channel on Twitch. Streams Charts will share more insights in its upcoming monthly report.
In July, Twitch hit a new milestone with over 14 million concurrent viewers at its peak — and about 9.3 million of them were watching Ibai’s channel during the La Velada del Año V broadcast. For the first time in the platform’s history, peak viewership exceeded the 10 million mark.

Another notable stat is the 17% drop in peak channel count compared to the previous month. But this isn’t out of the ordinary — the metric simply returned to its typical level after a sharp 17% spike in June. That temporary boost was fueled by a major in-game Fortnite event celebrating the launch of a new season, which significantly increased streamer activity at the time.
Twitch created a dedicated category for La Velada del Año, and the event’s broadcasts racked up over 46.3 million Hours Watched (HW) in total. Almost all of that viewership came from Ibai’s channel, as other streamers were not allowed to air the boxing matches or restream the event. Still, many content creators held watch parties, offering radio-style commentary and discussions with their audiences as the event unfolded.
Elsewhere in the rankings, League of Legends reclaimed its usual spot at the top of the most-watched games list. The title jumped two places in July, boosted by esports broadcasts of MSI 2025 and EWC 2025 — both tournaments attracted massive audiences and reignited interest among League fans.
In July, Action was the most-watched game genre on Twitch, with streams in this category racking up nearly 850 million Hours Watched. As one of the most versatile genres, Action spans a broad range of titles — including some of livestreaming’s biggest hits like Grand Theft Auto V, League of Legends, Valorant, and more.
Shooter and RPG ranked second and third, each drawing about half the viewership of the leading genre. Surprisingly, MMO landed at the bottom of the top 10 — despite being tied to major titles like Minecraft, World of Warcraft, and Rust.
As expected, Ibai topped the list of the most-watched Twitch channels in July, pulling in over 51.2 million Hours Watched — largely thanks to La Velada del Año V. That said, even without the boxing event, the Spanish streamer likely would’ve secured a spot in the top 10.
British streamer Marc Robert "Caedrel" Lamont racked up his hours by casting the League of Legends matches at MSI 2025 and EWC 2025 — cementing his status as the game’s most popular community caster. Japanese streamer Junichi "kato_junichi0817" Kato landed third place thanks to a marathon RUST 2 stream, while German streamer Kevin "Papaplatte" Teller drew viewers with IRL broadcasts of his car tour across the UK.

Among organization channels, only GamesDoneQuick cracked the top rankings, pulling in just over 7.3 million Hours Watched during the charity event Summer Games Done Quick 2025.
It’s no surprise that Ibai also topped the list of Twitch channels by peak concurrent viewers. With a peak audience of 9.3 million, he not only broke his own record but also became the most-popular streamer worldwide across all platforms.
The Warframe channel claimed second place, pulling in 404,100 viewers during the Tennocon 2025 event stream. American streamer Maxwell Elliot "plaqueboymax" Scrotum Dent hit a personal best during the finale of his entertainment show In Too Deep, with 196,100 viewers watching live.

Samantha "Rivers_gg" Rivera stood out as the only female streamer in the top peak concurrent viewership rankings, hitting a personal record of 252,000 viewers while reacting to La Velada del Año V.
Emily Beth "Emiru" Schunk, from the OTK Network, held onto her spot as the top female streamer of the month. She improved on her June average viewer count and has now clearly pulled ahead of the competition.
Other notable female streamers in the top ranks include Arina "morphilina" Lopatinskaya, who cracked the top 10 with collaborative Counter-Strike streams alongside Vadim "Evelone" Kozakov. Imane "Pokimane" Anys also had a strong month, climbing back into the top ranks thanks to popular Mafia streams with fellow creators like Jeremy "DisguisedToast" Wang and Rachell "Valkyrae" Hofstetter.
As July showed, Twitch isn’t just about games — it’s about moments that bring the community together. From record-breaking boxing events to epic esports battles, the platform keeps evolving and surprising us all. Stay tuned for what’s next!
