The latest gaming marathon event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, was held from July 6 to 13. It treated fans to a live concert and its first artists alley, which featured artists, makers, crafters, and indie game developers, alongside all of the usual speedrunning feats, which helped it raise over $2 million for charity.

This week-long speedrunning exercise pulled in 72,083 Peak Viewers (PV), which was reached towards the end of the event when things were wrapping up, and it was finally revealed how much this charity endeavour had collected. The official Twitch channel, GamesDoneQuick, attracted a massive 6.57 million Hours Watched (HW), making it the platform's most-watched channel between July 6 to 13, no mean feat given the wealth of top-tier esports co-casters who have been active in this period covering various events.

Most importantly, the Summer Games Done Quick 2025 raised a substantial $2,436,614 for the Doctors Without Borders organization. This international, independent medical humanitarian cause, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.

Held in Minneapolis, the event received 37,776 donations, with the highest contribution being a solo $61,200 donation. It also added to the overall total of $50 million raised over the history of all Games Done Quick marathon events, which this milestone touched during last year's SGDQ. The final amount raised combines direct donations and those received through partners like Fangamer, The Yetee, and Humble Bundle.

A few highlights of this beloved gaming marathon included a Saturday showcase of two recent video gaming hits: Mario Kart World and Deltarune. Fans also witnessed familiar speedruns of Super Mario Maker 2 (in its traditional relay race format) and a complete playthrough of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, which was finished in less than an hour using one of the most unique controllers ever made, the DK Bongos.

A particular highlight was the crowd's electric reactions to the AEW Fight Night Forever run, which finished in around 40 minutes. This professional wrestling video game marked the debut of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), seen as the North American competitor to the global behemoth that is World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), on home consoles and PCs.

The Summer Games Done Quick 2025 was another successful venture for the organizers in their attempts to contribute to a globally renowned charity. Having raised over $50 million total, this speedrunning marathon has etched its name in history and continues to be a shining light for those looking to bring more positivity to the gaming and livestreaming industries.
