Apple Far Out 2022: Viewership stats for iPhone 14 presentation

Apple Far Out 2022: Viewership stats for iPhone 14 presentation
Share:

As tradition demands, Apple announced its annual fall event for the month of September, which took place at the headquarters of the company in Cupertino, California. In the Apple Far Out, the company announced many new products they had been working on for a long time, and which will release soon.

This was the first Apple event to happen live since the start of the pandemic. Since 2020 the company had been using pre-recorded videos for the launch events, making this event even more interesting for the viewers.

Apple announced the new iPhone 14, which was the most anticipated product to be revealed at the event, and will be available for pre-order this Friday, the 9th of September. The product didn't increase in price which was the main worry many people had.

Tim Cook, the company CEO, also announced new AirPods and Apple Watches. Every new product that was announced by Apple had some very interesting new features, and the company showed they are pushing to deliver better products.

Apple Far Out 2022 Viewership stats

When it comes to the event viewership stats, this was the most popular Apple event ever. The fact this was the first event with an in-person component since 2019, certainly did a lot to help the viewership numbers of the broadcast.

Apple Far Out 2022 was streamed on YouTube and had viewers watching the stream for 4.7 million hours. The event had a peak viewership of 3.69 million, which is almost a million more than the previous peak viewers leader (iPhone 12 release). The broadcast was live for 2 hours and had 2.26 million concurrent viewers. These are some amazing numbers, especially for such a short stream.

The official broadcast of the Apple Event on September 14, 2021, had 1.95 million Hours Watched, and 2.26 million Peak Viewers, so it's easy to see how much better this year's viewership numbers were for the Apple event. If you compare it to the 2020 event, then the discrepancy is even bigger when it comes to hours watched.

In 2020 the Apple event had viewers watching their stream for 1.9 million hours. In the PV department, they did better than the 2021 edition, with 2.74 million PV, but still far from the PV of the Apple Far Out 2022.

Most popular announcements of Apple Far Out 2022

As mentioned above the Peak Viewers number was reached when the iPhone 14 was revealed, so it's no surprise to see that the iPhone 14 was the most popular product in the event with 3.69 million simultaneous viewers. However, the second place was not that far off. At 17:55 the new Airpods Pro reached 3 million peak viewers.

We have to take into account that this number was reached when it was almost time to announce the iPhone 14. Just five minutes later the stream reached its PV, meaning that most people tuned in at that time because they wanted to see the presentation of the iPhone 14.

Closing the top three of the most popular products of the event, we have the Apple Watch Ultra, with 2.79 million peak viewers. Despite the iPhone 14 being clearly the most popular product of the event, the viewers also showed a lot of interest in the Airpods Pro, and the Apple Watch Ultra.

Curiously, despite the iPhone 14 being the most popular product, both the Airpods Pro, and the Apple Watch Ultra, gathered more interest from the viewers than the iPhone 14 Pro, since both had a higher PV. With 2.7 million simultaneous viewers the iPhone 14 Pro was the fourth most popular announcement of the event.

The Apple Watch SE, and the Apple Watch Series 8 were not that far behind, with 2.49 million and 2.46 million PV respectively. This means that viewers were very interested in the iPhone 14, but not that much in the iPhone 14 Pro.
