Thanks to the new feature on Streams Charts, now you can not only assess the popularity of a game in streaming, but also compare games with each other in any given period of time. Which games have been the most popular this year? Which one attracted more viewers, Starfield or Marvel's Spider-Man 2? How many streamers broadcast Diablo IV? How much has Hogwarts Legacy outperformed the DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of Hours Watched? You can find the answers to these (and more) questions thanks to the new Compare tab on games' pages.
What is Compare?
The Compare tab is available for every game in the Streams Charts database. It allows you to compare the viewership dynamics of a title on Twitch with other games or popular categories like Just Chatting. In other words, you can compare games based on metrics such as Hours Watched, Average and Peak Viewers, Unique Channels, and so on.

Who has access to the Compare tab?
Only Streams Charts PRO subscribers are provided with the feature to access information from the Compare tab. However, you can freely test a trial version of the tool: although the data will be fictional, it will give you an understanding of how it works and what statistics it can provide.

What can the Compare tool do?
The Compare tool can compare the popularity of games based on various metrics over a specific period of time (from a week to a year, or since the game's release). For example, you can find out which game had the most Hours Watched in the last six months, which game had the highest Peak Viewers number on its release day, or the highest number of channels on Twitch. Interestingly, you can compare not just two, but multiple games at once. You can add them using the "+Add game" button and the search bar that appears below.
Compare games based on viewing time on Twitch and other platforms. As an example, you can compare Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, and Diablo IV in the current year.

Hovering over the graphs will trigger a pop-up window displaying the exact figures for the selected day
From this graph, we can see that the March beta test of Diablo IV amassed as many Hours Watched on Twitch as Starfield. Furthermore, the full release of Diablo IV surpassed even the release of Hogwarts Legacy in the same metric.

The graph allows us to track the different stages of both tournaments
Currently, The International 2023 for Dota 2 and the World Championship 2023 for League of Legends are taking place almost simultaneously. By analyzing the popularity of Peak Viewers on Twitch, we can understand which game is more popular on the platform.
Comparing the number of streaming channels. The popularity of a game is also heavily influenced by in-game events and drops. Streamers often utilize them to attract a new audience to their channels. How this works can be seen through examples like Escape from Tarkov and Honkai: Star Rail.

Similar spikes can be observed during the release of large patches or DLCs
The creators of Escape from Tarkov and Honkai: Star Rail regularly hold seasonal events with drops. During these periods, the number of channels dedicated to the game significantly increases. All of these spikes can be seen on the graph above. In September, the number of Honkai: Star Rail channels increased hundredfold, all thanks to a new drop program that allows both viewers and streamers to receive drops.
Comparing games across different channel categories. Top content creators with a massive audience strive to play new hyped games, while streamers with fewer viewers prefer already proven esports disciplines like Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike, etc. Using the unique channel filter, the popularity of a game among different categories of streamers can be assessed. This is particularly useful for advertisers and brands.

Comparing Fortnite and Starfield by the number of Unique Channels in different audience segments
Compare the popularity of a game on different platforms. One title may be very popular on Twitch, but may have almost no interest from viewers on Trovo or YouTube Live.

Each game has its own "main" platform
To see the popularity of a game on a specific platform, you can scroll down on the same Compare tab. From the example above, it can be seen that League of Legends broadcasts generate the most Hours Watched specifically on Twitch, followed by YouTube Live and NimoTV after Amazon's platform.
Knowing all these characteristics will help understand where the main target audience of the game is. This is important both for streamers and for brands looking for a platform to place advertisements.
