Streams Charts team is pleased to present a new analytical service DoHuya.com, which provides the statistics of viewer activity on one of the largest streaming sites in China, DouYu and Huya. This is the first project of this kind in the Western segment of the live-streaming and esports industry.
At the moment, DoHuya data is available for three main entities: channels, games (categories) and live broadcasts. The main metric used by DouYu and Huya is the ‘Heat Index’, and one can find out its peak and average values depending on the selected entity and time period.

It’s important: ‘Heat Index’ is not the number of viewers, but a special indicator of the popularity of the channel/broadcast, which is influenced by various factors, including the duration of the stream, the total number of people who visited the broadcast, the number of videos on the channel, etc. You can read more about what this metric is and why it is used in China here.
In addition, the airtime indicator is available for both platforms, and you can also find out the channel's follower growth and total number of followers in the case of DouYu. Over time, the functionality of DoHuya will be significantly expanded. For example, we plan to add a block of esports content statistics in the near future.
“The global mission of Streams Charts is to increase transparency and trust in live-streaming viewership statistics. We regularly update our database with new platforms, and over the past year, we integrated statistics of several new services, such as Mildom, Kick and Rumble. We are proud to be able to say without exaggeration that we have the largest database of live-streaming stats & analytics.
Since we already cover the largest services in Europe, America and Southeast Asia, turning our eyes to China is the right and logical decision. It’s no secret that Chinese platforms count the popularity of broadcasts and channels not solely by concurrent audience, but by a special index, so we decided to combine all such platforms within a dedicated service. DouYu and Huya are the first steps in that direction, and we are already making efforts to integrate the stats of bilibili and CC163. Stay tuned for news!”
Nazar Babenko, Streams Charts Product Manager

Huya (or Huya Live) is a Chinese live-streaming service founded in 2014. Outside of China, it operates as NimoTV. Despite the variety of content, including IRL broadcasts, Huya is mainly known as a platform for watching esports & gaming broadcasts, for example, the major League of Legends competitions.
DouYu appeared a year after the launch of Huya, and together both sites cover the majority of gaming broadcasts (including esports tournaments) in China. Tech giant Tencent is among the stakeholders of both services, and the audience of the platforms is tens of millions of people.
