First month of xQc on Kick — watch time is growing, but still more viewers on Twitch

First month of xQc on Kick — watch time is growing, but still more viewers on Twitch
Share:

It has been a month since the most popular Twitch streamer, Canadian xQc, signed a contract with Kick. But how has his audience changed with the switch to the new platform? His streams on Twitch still gather more viewers, but Kick leads both in terms of broadcast time and total hours watched.

In mid-June, it became known that streamer xQc signed a two-year contract with the Kick. According to the Canadian's manager, the deal amounted to $70 million with the possibility of increasing it to $100 million through bonuses. Such a contract immediately made xQc the highest-paid streamer in the world and placed him on par with sports stars like basketball player Stephen Curry and Formula 1 racer Max Verstappen.

An important condition in xQc's contract was that his agreement with Kick does not involve exclusivity — meaning he continued streaming on Twitch. The Canadian simply decided to alternate broadcasts on the platforms. For example, he often starts streaming on Twitch and ends on Kick. There are also exceptions when xQc conducts the entire stream on one platform.

xQc Viewership Comparison: Twitch vs Kick

From June 16 to July 16, xQc's streams accumulated a total of 12.9 million Hours Watched on both platforms (a split of 58.5% on Kick and 41.5% on Twitch). The duration of streams on the new platform was nearly twice as long as on Twitch — 186 hours compared to 106. This means that approximately 63.6% of the total broadcast time for the month was on Kick.

During the month, xQc had 40.5K Average Viewers on Kick 86.5K Peak Viewers. As for Twitch, the Canadian managed to attract 50.1K AV and 109.4K PV.

Let's also note the rapid growth in the number of followers for xQc on Kick. Just a month after his first stream, the channel's subscriber count reached 450K people.

xQc Viewership Dynamics: Twitch vs Kick

In the last month, the highest peak viewership for xQc on Twitch was recorded on June 16th (109.4K PV), which was the day the announcement of his move to another platform was made. After that, the peak viewership chart started showing a downward trend, reaching a low point of 40.3K PV.

As for Kick, xQc's most popular stream on the platform was held on June 18th, with approximately 86.5K PV. Technically, this was his second stream on the new platform, as the broadcast took place overnight from the 17 to the 18. He could have set a record on the first day, but technical issues hindered it — Kick servers experienced significant viewer overflow.

xQc Viewership Dynamics: Twitch vs Kick

Average viewership during streams is a more indicative metric for the long run. It is more stable and not influenced by specific events or external factors. When looking at xQc's metrics on Twitch, a downward trend can be observed. The highest peak was recorded on the first day of his transition, with 78K PV. On the other hand, his least popular stream took place on July 13, gathering only 33.8 Average Viewers. During this stream, xQc browsed Reddit and watched music videos featuring attractive women.

The situation is different on Kick — until the start of July 4, the average number of viewers also declined, reaching a low point of 25.1K AV. However, on July 6, his stream of Dave the Diver attracted 55.6K AV. Currently, it is one of xQc's most popular broadcasts on Kick.

In conclusion, it can be said that currently, xQc's streams on Twitch gather more viewers than his broadcasts on Kick. The Canadian streamer is smoothly transitioning his audience to the new platform, but the growth there is currently slow. After the hype on the day of his transition announcement, a downward trend in viewership can be observed. However, this may be a seasonal phenomenon (during the summer, people prefer to engage in outdoor activities rather than watching streams on screens). Let's see how this trend evolves over a longer period of time.
