XQc’s first few Kick broadcasts created quite the storm (so much so that due to the huge influx of the audience, the site's servers were down for several hours), helping the platform set a new record for concurrent viewers. The platform reached 458.3K Peak Viewers, a 19.8% rise from the fledgling streaming site’s previous record set in March.
The Twitch megastar announced he was joining Kick on Friday night and debuted on the green site the day after. Knowing the kind of pull he brings, this stream attracted a hefty 66K PV while doing 461K Hours Watched and 54K Average Viewers. However, his next broadcast, which aired around 25 hours after his first, managed a monster 86K PV, proving his acquisition by Kick was as shrewd as they come.
XQc has been the most-watched Twitch streamer every year since 2020, but he still decided to join Kick a few days back. As a pioneer in the field and a highly sought-after figure worldwide, his often outspoken nature has not stopped him from gaining the adulation and support of millions of viewers from across the globe, and this popularity will only benefit Kick in the long run.
The Canadian signed a contract with the trainwreckstv-backed platform that could eventually be worth $100M, making it the largest streaming deal ever and bringing him on par with many traditional sports athletes. However, it has to be noted that it is a non-exclusive arrangement that will see him splitting his time between Kick and Twitch. His first few streams so far have mostly focused on Rocket League, Just Chatting, and BattleBit.
Coming to the general streaming industry, 2023 was also great for NimoTV, which set a platform record of 3.7M PV on April 8, 2023. The Chinese site achieved its record mark during the Nimo TV Global Gala 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, which saw a congregation of the top live streamers, celebrities, and guests from across the globe.
The overall record belongs to YouTube Live, which aggregated 11.4M PV on May 22, 2022, during the 31st Southeast Asian Games held in Vietnam. The host nation’s viewers were the main contributors, as the esports segment of this biennial extravaganza saw participation in eight disciplines.
With streaming continuing to grow and never being more popular, readers can expect these numbers to rise in the future. The biggest gains could be made by Kick, which continues to be on a spree to sign big names disgruntled with Twitch’s recent changes to its branded content guidelines.
