Donations are one of the main sources of income for any content creator, regardless of the platform. Streams Charts did some research to find out which donation systems are most commonly used by French Twitch streamers.

Disclaimer: Conclusions are based on the number of links to donation systems found in channel descriptions. We analyzed about 600K French-language channels on Twitch, about 30% of them did use some kind of link(s) in their descriptions.

Streamlabs became the most popular system for receiving donations, boasting a result of 68.7K mentions (74% of the total number of links). Streamlabs developers position their software tool as “everything you need for streaming.” The software features a user-friendly interface and lacks any sort of extra commission, which explains its huge popularity.

Following it is StreamElements, a platform with no less wide functionality for improving the visual component of broadcasts. It became the second most popular among French streamers with 11.04K links (which equals 11.9% of the total number of links to donation systems). StreamElements integrates the DonatePay service, which has a commission of 2% to 6%, which makes it less attractive compared to Streamlabs.

Closing the top 3 is one of the most popular online payment systems in the world: PayPal (8.28K mentions). This suggests that often French streamers prefer to accept donations directly to their electronic wallet, rather than using the functionality of third-party services.

At the same time, the links to PayPal are most often left by the streamers without any partnership status with Twitch. Those who have the affiliate or partner states do so less frequently. Apart from Streamlabs and StreamElements, the partners of the platform prefer to use TipeeeStream.

TipeeeStream is in the fourth spot. Its use was spotted on 2.15K French channels. The service does not charge a commission for standalone donations but charges 8% from donations of the regular kind (similar to Twitch’s paid subscription) – the latter being the platform’s special feature.

The fifth spot was taken by the Russian service DonationAlerts with 724 links on the channels of French-speaking streamers. Its main feature is to display a message with an attached donation amount during the broadcast. At the same time, the service commission is 7%, which is more than that of StreamElements with integrated DonatePay.

The next most popular donation service is Wizebot. This is a bot that, in addition to showing donation messages, helps to moderate the Twitch chat and simplifies the interaction of the streamer with the audience in every possible way.

Links to Patreon and Ko-fi were found 352 and 234 times respectively. These are very similar to each other. For donations in these services, users get access to the exclusive content of their favorite content creators.

Ranked between them with a 325 link count is WLO.LINK. The service allows you to place links to donations, social networks, and any of your personal projects all in one place.

Out of the links found in the descriptions of French-language Twitch channels, 173 led straight to Gamecaster, a multifunctional streaming service for gamers. The developers promise that their service has everything you need to conduct a live broadcast with little to no impact on PC performance.

Links to Streamloots were found 166 times. For donating a certain amount, this platform allows not only to send a message but also to force the streamer to take a particular action.

A little over one hundred links from the descriptions of French-language channels led to 1UpCoin (which allows you to donate cryptocurrency) and Player.me (a gaming community allowing people to leave links to donations and social networks in their profiles).

A total of 70 links to the Genki.me application were found. It gives subscribers discounts in more than 30K stores, and the streamer receives 1-5% of each purchase as a reward.

There are a huge number of services that provide an opportunity to financially support your favorite content creator. All of them differ in functionality, fees, availability, and convenience. Most French-speaking streamers have opted for Streamlabs, as the platform successfully combines all the functionality necessary for live broadcasting and interaction with the audience.
