Autochess is far from being the most popular game genre, but some of its games are still able to draw a stunning audience. Among such games is Teamfight Tactics by Riot Games. New patch 12.11 dropped a TFT Set Seven update, and thanks to it the game showed a new peak by Twitch audience in last two months.
TFT Set Seven was released on June 7 and brough in new traits, champions, Augments, Tacticians, battle pass, and more to the game. The update has somewhat revived the interest of content creators and ordinary viewers in the game. Since the beginning of 2022, the Average Viewers count on Twitch has been steadily declining: in January it was 34K, and by May it had dropped to 16K Average Viewers. The release of the patch raised this figure to 24K Average Viewers in June so far. Moreover, for the first time since April of this year, peak online of more than 100K Peak Viewers was reached.
Over 107K Peak Viewers allowed TFT to enter the top ten most popular games on Twitch over the last day. The number of Hours Watched of TFT on Twitch was 2.04 million for June 8-9, which is more than CS:GO, Rust and Dota 2 amassed.
Note, that the record of the category by Peak Viewers was achieved in July 2019 during Twitch Rivals Teamfight Tactics Showdown. Back then the category reached 366K Peak Viewers.
The new patch caught an eye of many streamers. For June 8-9, the biggest online was collected by k3soju, a Teamfight Tactics player for Cloud9. His stream reached 20K concurrent viewers, followed by famous HS/LoL streamer from Korea, 얍얍, who gathered 11K people at the peak of the stream. Also, a Call of Duty veteran and official streamer of Team Vitality Gotaga gathered 10K concurrent viewers.
The new patch helped the game to gain a viewer base for a while. However, there is no reason to believe that the TFT audience will grow in the long term.
