The first month of summer on Twitch was special because of pool streams, ASMR, and new gaming releases. In a new monthly report, Streams Charts will tell you how viewers' preferences changed in June 2021, who became the most popular streamer of the month, and which Twitch clip received the most views.
The most popular Twitch categories in June 2021
Just Chatting is an unchangeable leader among categories, though its Hours Watched decreased by 12% compared to May. The reason is that June was saturated with different events, that’s why the spectators didn’t spend so much time in the category. Moreover, at the end of May, the platform created a separate category for pool streams. Thus some part of the audience left Just Chatting.
The results of GTA V worsened a lot. Compared to May, Hours Watched fell by 32.8%, and Average Viewers decreased by 100K. Last month, many popular streamers stopped playing on RP servers, but the category still holds the second spot in the ranking. At the same time, viewers spent 15% more hours watching GTA V streams in June than League of Legends (top 3 category in June).
League of Legends lost 15% HW, and its Peak Viewers decreased x2 compared to May. In May, the category was influenced by MSI 2021. In June, the start of Summer LoL Championships 2021 helped to keep the third position in the ranking. Still, the finals will only be in late July-early August, so expect the improvement during this period.
In May, the Valorant and CoD: Warzone categories were almost on the same level, but this month Battle Royale has 4M HW more than Riot Games' title.
Fortnite and Dota 2 are back in the June top. Epic Games' Battle Royale has improved its stats because of Season 7. Dota 2 has brought back viewers thanks to the last Major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021 season — WePlay AniMajor, and the start of The International 10 regional qualifiers.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive lost almost 21M Hours Watched (over 37%) compared to May and moved one position down. World of Warcraft closes our top 10. The category made it to the ranking thanks to the release of the Burning Crusade Classic. This is the first expansion for World of Warcraft, which was released in 2007, and now it was adapted for the classic version of the game. More details about the results of the add-on launch in our separate article.
The most popular streamers in June 2021
The first two positions in the Twitch monthly top have not changed, they belong to xQcOW and Gaules. Felix's Hours Watched dropped 44% because he was streaming 54 hours less this month. The result of the Brazilian content maker remained the same — 15M HW in June.
Auronplay moved one position up since May, but his Hours Watched fell by 32%, even though he streamed just 10 hours less than last month.
Summit1g and HasanAbi replaced Shroud and Ibai in top 5 male streamers. The first devoted almost all of his time to GTA V RP-servers, and the second mostly talked with the audience and discussed videos from the sites of the accidents.

As for the girls, Amouranth continues to hold the lead. Moreover, she is the top 1 streamer in the Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches category. In June, Kaitlyn streamed 99 hours less, so her Hours Watched dropped by 15%.
Korean streamer Saddummy has moved up from fourth to second position in the ranking. Surprisingly, her most popular category of the month was not Just Chatting (this is the main category for girls on the platform), but World of Warcraft.
In the top 3 is Indiefoxx, another popular streamer of the Hot Tub and ASMR categories, with 1.4M HW this month. At the end of the month, the girl was banned for the sixth time in a year. According to rumors, Indiefoxx lost her Twitch partner status.
IamCristinini fell from second to fourth place, and her HW decreased by 58%. Pqueen dropped out of the top 5 female Twitch streamers in June and was replaced by 39daph, which has mainly streamed Minecraft this month.
The most popular esports channels in June 2021
dota2mc_ru became the most popular esports channel of the month, as it was the official Russian-language studio of WePlay AniMajor. It also received the exclusive rights to broadcast the qualifiers for The International 10 in Russian. Because of this, Maincast has doubled its Hours Watched since May.
In second place is the WePlayDota channel, which hosted the English-language broadcast of WePlay AniMajor, with 11.3M Hours Watched. The third and fourth positions belong to the broadcasters of the regional League of Legends competitions, and the fifth place was taken by the RocketLeague channel.
The most popular June broadcasts by Peak Viewers
In June, the most popular broadcast was held by GeorgeNotFound in a pool. It was watched by 387K people at the same time. Two Tommyinnit’s streams also entered the top, one of which had an exciting condition: if Tommyinnit, Ranboo, or Tubbo laughs, the stream ends. The viewers managed to make the content makers laugh in an hour.
Let’s talk about the E3 conference and ZLAN 2021, French streaming marathon. The second day of the E3 presentation gathered 275 thousand viewers at its peak and took fifth place among all Twitch broadcasts in June, and the French marathon by ZeratoR was watched by 239 thousand people at the peak on the official stream.
