‘Whose Avatar is That?’ Season 3 will see Turkish streamers in limelight

It was only recently that Season 2 of our game, 'Whose Avatar is That?', concluded, with the results discussed here. Fans won't have much time to rest, though, as the third season is getting underway today and will run till November 15.

Readers can join in with the thousands of other participants and attempt to win cool prizes from our partner HyperX and us. The game's rules and prizes are the same, as we are giving away top gaming peripherals from the top gaming accessories brand alongside streamer subscription plans for Streams Charts. We will also reward one player every week with a microphone, with the criteria being that they have to have played three or more games across those seven days.

Every season, we also change the language to make things interesting, and this time around, we have settled on Turkish as one of the choices. As one of the most spoken languages on the purple platform and with some of the most passionate and knowledgeable fans around, Turkish has contributed so much to esports and entertainment broadcasting, with its streamers emerging as some of the most famous globally.

That the language has given so much to the industry is reflected in the fact that there are 11 Turkish streamers with over a million followers on Twitch, with many posting impressive numbers over the years and months. Some of the most followed and successful names from 2023 include MithrainElraennwtcN, and PurpleBixi, with the full list of the most-watched influencers mentioned below.

Per our database, the most-watched Turkish streamers this year are JahreinHype, and Eray. The former two are the only ones so far to cross the 10M Hours Watched mark, with the name in third coming close with 9.7M HW. The number one slot’s numbers are good enough to put him in the top 100 of the corresponding global list, which is quite the statement for a nation as small as Turkey. In fact, it has four representatives in the top 150, a commendable ratio and a sign of the demand for these broadcasters.

Most of these content creators belong to the chatting genre, although a few invest their time in games like Counter-Strike, Valorant, and Casino Jackpot. However, it has to be noted that many of these IRL influencers also play various games when they decide to veer from their preferred segment, with titles like Starfield, Age of Empires II, and League of Legends all popular secondary options.

Their coverage of various esports events, ranging from PUBG to Valorant to League of Legends, has attracted the eyeballs of not only millions of Turkish viewers but also fans from all over the world. This has made the Eurasian nation one of the most important contributors to the global health of the industry, contributing not only monetarily but also manpower (in terms of esports professional players), venues, highly successful teams, and, of course, popular streamers.

Moreover, Turkish sports teams were some of the earliest to launch esports wings, seeing the lucrative potential of the industry long before it had become the norm. Hence, it holds a much-deserved place in the annals of esports and what it has become today, and what better way to honor that than by choosing it as one of the languages for our fun little game?

Brief look at the language's yearly stats so far

When looking at Turkish in isolation, it has done 39K Average Viewers and 187K unique channels this year, making it one of the better-performing languages on the Amazon-owned site for 2023. Its best month for watch hours and peak online viewers was May, helped by the conduct of big events in major esports disciplines like CS:GO (now CS 2), Fortnite, League of Legends, and Rainbow 6. Moreover, there were streamer and showcase events like Twitch Rivals Rust Team Battle III, PlayStation Showcase 2023, and 32nd SEA Games that had streamers and fans glued to their screens throughout the month.

Turkish fans and content creators have been crucial to the success of such events across the world, and their presence in the Just Chatting scene has also been a boon for the various streaming platforms. Of course, there is a clear preference among viewers for disciplines like LoL, CS, and Dota 2, but that hasn’t stopped them from leaving their mark across the board.

As a result, audiences from the nation will have a special chance to win goodies by showing off their knowledge about content creators and games in their native language. Therefore, those interested in participating in our little weekly game and winning prizes can keep up to date with the happenings on our website and social media. The rewards include microphones, headsets, and keyboards, apart from our coveted Streams Charts monthly PRO subscription.
