The second split of the Queens League 2023 finished up on Saturday the 14th of October, with Aniquiladoras FC winning the final match in Málaga against Saiyans FC. Aniquiladoras FC, whose chairperson is Spanish creator Espe, have won their first Queens League event after being eliminated from the first round of Playoffs at the first Split earlier this year.
Viewership for the second event of the year was down for the Queens League, however, it still managed to draw in millions of hours of watch time. Take a look at the overall statistics for the league and also which community casters were the most important in terms of drawing in viewership for the event.
Queens League 2023 Split 2 Viewership
Queens League 2023 Split 2 received 4.94M Hours Watched in total across September and October. The event ran for more than a month and was live for just under 45 hours during this period. The event was broadcasted by official Kings League live-streaming channels on Twitch, YouTube Live and TikTok.
Although the dynamics for the Queens League may look worrying at first glance, both the Kings and Queens Leagues seem to have struggled to draw in the same viewership earlier in the year. The Hours Watched figure for Split 2 of the Queens League is also affected by the low Airtime of the event, which was 45% lower than the Airtime for the first Split.
The lower Airtime in the second Split is due to a slight restructuring of the Group Stage. In the Summer Split earlier this year, all 12 teams of the league played each other, for 11 matches each before advancing to the Playoffs. However, in Split 2 of 2023, the league divided the teams into two groups of 6, meaning each team was only required to play 5 games. The new format condensed the league and allowed the tournament to be completed much quicker.
In terms of the average number of concurrent viewers, the Queens League’s drop in stats is comparable to the same dip recorded in the second Split of the Kings League. The first ever of the year was much more extensive and hyped fans up more, which negatively affected the viewership statistics for the second event of the year.
The Peak Viewers figure of 581K was reached during the final match between Aniquiladoras FC and Saiyans FC, however, the Semifinal match between Aniquiladoras FC and PIO FC was also hugely popular. The viewership statistics of the event were not only thanks to the official Kings League channels but many team managers and chairpeople also covered the matches on their own channels, adding to the viewership for the event.
Queens League 2023 Split 2 Community Streams
Rivers_gg, a Mexican content creator, was the most popular streamer of the entire event. She reached over 100K PV during the Semifinal match between Aniquiladoras FC and her own PIO FC. Rivers’ audience was a key part of the Peak Viewership of the event, and her coverage of the event became one of her most popular broadcasts ever.
In total, 19 different channels went live to cover the second split of the Queens League, and 16 of these were team managers supporting the action and cheering on their own squad. Of the 19 channels to cover the event, no community member covered a majority of the event. Rivers_gg and TheGrefg were both live for just over 10 hours each throughout the Split.
Spursito reached 37.7K Peak Viewers during the match between his team Rayo de Barcelona and Rivers’ PIO FC. The match took place in the first round of Playoffs and after a 2-2 tie, the match went to a penalty shootout. Nerves were high but eventually, PIO FC secured a 2-1 victory in penalties. Looking at the stream data for Spursito’s broadcast, its clear the match was a nail-biter as the Average Viewers figure climbed and climbed before reaching the Peak Viewers figure as the penalty showdown came to a climax.
The Kings and Queens Leagues continue to draw in millions of hours of watch time across multiple platforms in 2023. In 2024, the league will expand to the Americas and feature LATAM creators and personalities to compete in Mexico City. As the league expands into Latin America, viewership for the league can only grow as the event becomes more and more popular.
