Major livestreaming viewership records in 2025

Major livestreaming viewership records in 2025
Share:

Livestreaming in 2025 continued to integrate itself into mainstream pop culture, with many top content creators establishing themselves as bona fide celebrities. One of the most prominent ways to gauge a streamer's success is to examine their channel's viewership numbers, with many of them creating/breaking records last year to reinforce their popularity.

Last year, livestreaming milestones were etched into history not only in the more common segments and metrics but also in lesser-known ones. Streams Charts has sifted through its extensive database of channels and live broadcasting platforms to bring readers some of the most prominent viewership records achieved in 2025.

All records broken on Twitch

New platform peak viewership record (14,078,025 PV)

We start with the big one, as Twitch, for the third straight year, broke its peak concurrent viewers record, thanks to the incredibly popular La Velada del Año. The fifth edition of this influencer boxing event, organized by the legendary Ibai "ibai" Llanos, achieved heights previously thought impossible for the purple platform.

La Velada del Año V helped Twitch touch a record of 14,078,025 Peak Viewers (PV), making it the second livestreaming service after YouTube to surpass a peak of 10 million viewers at a single point in time. This mark was also more than double the platform's previous mark of 6,741,553 PV, set during the fourth iteration of the sporting spectacle.

Ibai himself set a new peak live viewership mark, becoming the overall top streamer and channel all-time across platforms with 9,334,179 PV. He also became Twitch's most-followed streamer at that point, with 19,687,595 followers. A list of the records that the La Velada del Año V broke can be read here.

New platform record for most followed streamer (20 million followers)

We now move to another Twitch sensation, Kai Cenat, who continued his meteoric rise and confirmed his status as a mainstream celebrity in 2025. One of the records he broke belonged to ibai, as he became Twitch's most followed streamer in September during Mafiathon 3, his annual month-long subathon.

Later in November, the American superstar would become the first creator ever to break the 20 million followers barrier. What made this accomplishment so remarkable was that he achieved it in under five years after launching his Twitch channel.

New platform record for all-time active subscriptions (1,112,947 subs)

Getting back to his nonstop livestreaming marathon, the Mafiathon 3, a big reason Kai Cenat started it was to see if he could push the boundaries of Twitch's subscribers model. And the 21-year-old did just that, first breaking his own all-time mark before doing the impossible and reaching a million active subscribers.

Kai Cenat remains the only Twitch streamer to surpass 500,00 active subs, let alone reach the million mark  Kai Cenat remains the only Twitch streamer to surpass 500,00 active subs, let alone reach the million mark

This made him the first streamer ever to gain one million active subscribers on the Amazon-owned platform, something nobody thought was even attainable. Eventually, Kai Cenat ended with 1,112,947 all-time peak active subscriptions at the end of his third annual subathon, with his final stream from this activity, involving NBA legend LeBron James, making him the first American Twitch streamer to pass one million peak viewers.

New platform Hype Train record (Level 125)

We also witnessed AI VTuber Neuro-sama start and end last year by shattering the Twitch Hype Train record. The popular streamer, an Artificial Intelligence VTubing model created by the British developer and a level 5 certified hacker, Vedal, passed the milestone she set in January right at the end of 2025.

During a December 23 livestream that was part of the VTuber's third birthday subathon, Neuro-sama broke her own global Twitch Hype Train recordreaching Level 125 (53% to Level 126) with 167,505 subscriptions and over a million Bits contributed. The event nearly completed Level 125, easily surpassing her achievement from earlier the same year.

Platform language records

A couple of languages also reached major new peak live viewership milestones on Twitch, led by Spanish, which touched a massive 9,869,712 PV thanks to the La Velada del Año V. Russian also did 1,443,513 PV during the biggest awards show for content creators and influencers from the country, Vyacheslav "buster" Leontiev's SLAY Awards 2025.

General records broken on Kick

New platform peak viewership record (4,600,683 PV)

We now move to Kick's most famous streamer, Luis "WestCol" Villa, who also broke records on the platform with his own version of ibai's La Velada del Año. The event, called Stream Fighters, involved Latin America's most renowned celebrities and media personalities, alongside many other well-known faces, as part of the production or hosting concerts and events between fights.

The fourth version of this exhibition boxing spectacle took place on October 18 at the Coliseo Medplus arena in Bogotá, Colombia. It helped Kick set a new all-time record for peak concurrent viewersreaching 4,600,683 million at its highest point. In fact, for a brief moment, the platform's PV numbers even exceeded YouTube and Twitch, a milestone the platform celebrated across its social media channels.

Like ibai, Stream Fighters 4 helped WestCol set a new record for peak concurrent viewers among Kick streamers and channels. He just about surpassed the 4 million PV mark, with the second-placed Andy "elzeein" Ramirez all the way back at 1.35 million Peak Viewers.

Colombian sensation WestCol also continues to be in the lead when it comes to the most followers on the Stake-backed platform. After the success of Stream Fighters 4, he became Kick's only content creator with over 2 million followers, currently boasting over 3.6 million followers.

New platform peak channels record (16,467 channels)

Kick also notched an all-time peak channels milestone on November 29, thanks to a combination of factors, led by the esports segment. Numerous crucial matches were held across events like the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, Overwatch Champions Series 2025 World Finals and Rocket League. This generated high interest among the neon platform's top names, who cover video gaming, including Alexandre "gaules" Borba and Abdulaziz "owbrain" Almehmadi.

There was also the Red Bull League of Its Own, an elite, one-day League of Legends showmatch event featuring South Korean 2025 world champion T1 taking on top European teams. Held at SAP Garden in Munich, the tournament utilized a unique Ultimate Fearless Draft format across six best-of-one matches, with popular sides like G2 Esports, Karmine Corp and Los Ratones also seen in action.

Platform language records

Like Twitch, Kick also saw a few languages reach notable peak live viewership milestones. English surpassed a million peak viewers (1,041,249 PV) for the first time, while Arabic came close to that mark, eventually hitting 811,691 PV as segments like the Kings League, Just Chatting and Respect RP (Grand Theft Auto V's most popular role-playing server in the Arab world) continued to attract audiences and content creators.

Led by WestCol's efforts with Stream Fighters 4, the Spanish language also notched a new record of 4,228,658 PV. Neighbors Portugal also set a new peak live viewership milestone, with Portuguese peaking at 386,513 viewers during the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 Playoffs series between FURIA and Natus Vincere. Fans from Brazil rallied behind their team, FURIA, as most of them caught the live coverage on Alexandre "gaules" Borba's channel, which did 327,343 PV.

General records broken on YouTube Live

New platform peak viewership record (19,599,635 PV)

YouTube Live was not to be left behind in 2025, with another activity from the sports category helping it reach a new peak live viewers milestone. In January, the massively popular regional football tournament, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Championship 2024, helped the Google-owned platform touch an astounding 19,599,635 PV.

This singular livestreaming moment came during the final between the event's most successful side, Thailand, and  Vietnam, the region's rising powerhouse in recent years. At that time, YouTube became the only livestreaming service to surpass the 10 million peak viewers mark.

Unlike Kick and Twitch, the red platform's peak concurrent viewership milestone was not driven by any particular streamer or influencer but by a combination of huge community engagement and the popularity of a couple of organization channels from Vietnam, where football is overwhelmingly the most popular sport.

Two of the Southeast Asian nation's most famous legacy football broadcasters ended as the most successful in terms of covering this biennial competition. FPT Bóng Đá Việt and BÓNG ĐÁ VIỆT NAM, both of which come under the FPT Corporation umbrella, finished as the two most popular channels over the past week across livestreaming services.

Other general livestreaming records from 2025

New platform peak viewership record for CHZZK (779,677 PV)

CHZZK, another rising platform, especially in the esports livestreaming segment, also hit a new PV milestone last year. The Naver-backed company peaked at 779,677 viewers during the final of the 2025 League of Legends World Championship between telecom wars rivals T1 and KT Rolster.

This was not surprising, given that the 2025 Worlds Grand Final was an all-Korean affair and that the legendary T1 was looking to do an unprecedented three-peat. As a result, Korean-speaking fans flocked to CHZZK, one of the East Asian country's top regional platforms, to catch the action.

The popularity of the 2025 Worlds and the support generated among Koreans for T1 also mean that the Korean language reached a new PV record during the event's finals. It peaked at 738,685 viewers as fans and streamers from the East Asian nation tuned in to see the world's most famous LoL side make history.

Its 918-hour and 55-minute, uninterrupted live broadcast of the reality show of the same name (meaning The House of Alofoke) became the longest livestreamed video ever.

Held between September 5 and 7, the 2025 iteration raised over €16.1 million, ending with the largest sum ever collected during a charity livestream marathon and notching its highest viewership in years, as per the organizers and Twitch.

TikTok's biggest-ever live event (2.4 billion views)

Over on the rapidly growing TikTok, Tomorrowland Belgium 2025 broke records for its biggest-ever live event. Content related to the electronic music festival was viewed over 2.4 billion times over two weeks, helping make Tomorrowland the biggest festival account on the platform with over 9.2 million followers.

Moreover, livestreams of the festival broke all previous records for an audience watching a live event on the video-sharing app. More than 74 million unique viewers watched TikTok Live streams from Tomorrowland across both weekends, smashing the previous record of 16 million viewers watching Tomorrowland on TikTok in 2023.
