Kai Cenat becomes Twitch's most followed streamer, continues subathon's record-breaking spree

Kai Cenat becomes Twitch's most followed streamer, continues subathon's record-breaking spree

If breaking Twitch all-time subscriber records during Mafiathon 3 was not enough, Kai Cenat has now broken another milestone that many thought was improbable even a couple of years back. The Twitch star, now at the end of his month-long subathon, has become the platform’s most followed streamer.

During his September 29 livestream, Kai Cenat passed Ibai "ibai" Llanos' mark of 19.76 million followers to become the most followed Twitch creator. The Spanish sensation had himself only recently earned this accolade, but his American counterpart's relentless drive and ability to keep audiences engaged during the third Mafiathon ensured it was a short-lived reign at the top.

One big reason why the Mafiathon 3 has retained high audience interest during its almost month-long run is the sheer star power of celebrities who have made appearances. The likes of LeBron James, Kim Kardashian, Mariah Carey, Ice Spice, Keke Palmer, the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco, and Ed Sheeran have all been part of the fun as guests. Kai Cenat even had the legendary rock band Linkin Park play a surprise set on his stream just a few days before he hit the one million subs mark.

At the time of writing, Kai Cenat's follower count stood at 19.78 million. There is a good chance the 23-year-old will become the first influencer ever to reach the 20 million mark by the end of his 24/7 livestreaming run, which will run until September 30.

The Bronx native had already broken the Twitch all-time active subscribers mark at the start of this same broadcast. And now, he holds two Twitch records that will forever enshrine him among the Amazon-owned livestreaming service's GOATs.

What makes this achievement so special is that both milestones are really hard to surpass. That Kai Cenat has not only become the most subscribed content creator but also broken that almost mythical one million subs mark speaks volumes about the support he has earned among his loyal viewers.

And now, he has the chance to reach 20 million followers, showing just how far he has come in the almost three years since he first broke out with the first Mafiathon. It is only a matter of when, not if, he breaks this record, and Streams Charts will keep readers updated on this and other milestones that the Twitch superstar touches in the future.
