The Future Games Show continued the festivities at Gamescom 2026 with around 356K Peak Viewers, a year-on-year rise of almost 15.4%, according to Streams Charts. The showcase provided fans with the latest access to some highly anticipated games, including 13 world-premiere trailers.

The Future Games Show Gamescom 2026 peaked at around 356.3K viewers across all combined broadcasts. This was a rise of 15.38% from last year's showcase, where details about one of the most anticipated upcoming games at the time, Resident Evil Requiem, were revealed.

This popular event, hosted by Nick Apostolides (Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem) and Angela Sant'Albano (Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem), also generated almost 698K Hours Watched across all platforms, marking an increase of 31.27% from the Future Games Show Gamescom 2025.

The 2026 edition also saw a massive increase in streamer engagement from last year. The number of unique broadcasting channels (across official and community broadcasts) covering all the announcements and reveals increased from 324 to 714.

It might not have been as popular as the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, which debuted at 1.74 million Peak Viewers, according to Streams Charts, but it was a worthy start to an event that has become one of the most anticipated video gaming showcases over the years.

Most-watched and most popular events in the FGS series

A look at all showcases in the Future Games Show series recorded on the Streams Charts database shows that the Future Games Show Gamescom 2026 ranked in the third spot by watch time and peak concurrent viewership.

Among the top community casters to livestream the proceedings by watch time were Juan "illojuan" García, Maximilian "handofblood" Knabe, Saqib "lirik" Ali and Ben "cohhcarnage" Cassell. Meanwhile, the YouTube channel FGS was the most successful official broadcaster on the night.

Twitch was by far the most preferred platform for viewers to catch the action, contributing almost two-thirds to the event's cumulative watch time. However, in terms of year-on-year growth, YouTube enjoyed a rise in its share of total watch time, with Twitch in fact losing ground by around 4%.

The Future Games Show was just the start of a few days of showcases and dev updates at Gamescom 2026. Upcoming events include CD Projekt Red's REDstreams, the Xbox showcase and the next edition of the Games Done Quick series. The entire program can be accessed here.

Biggest announcements from Future Games Show Gamescom 2026

This showcase, which ran for just over two hours, packed a lot of updates for fans (over 70 games made the lineup). Alongside 13 world-premiere trailers, viewers were provided with plenty of demo drops and release dates. Perhaps the most talked-about reveal was Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which received new gameplay and cinematic trailers that highlighted its Lion Dogs mechanic. Publisher Capcom plans to launch the game on September 4, 2026, for PC and consoles.

We also saw more gameplay for The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, centered on unlockable character Negan and his iconic weapon, Lucille. The upcoming title will launch on September 18 for PC and consoles.

Fans of the legendary media franchise Star Wars had much to cheer as well. Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a run-based racing game featuring podracers and land speeders from the Star Wars universe, will launch on October 6, 2026, for PC and consoles.

Among the other notable reveals were Worms: Galactic Tactics, Dioxide, Wolcen 2, and Crimson Moon. Overall, the event emerged as a success for Gamescom and its creator Geoff Keighley, with year-on-year viewership on the up and some highly anticipated games making the main lineup.
