Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 broadcasts generated more than 5.8 million Hours Watched, up 27% from last year’s show. The number of unique broadcasting channels also increased sharply, rising from just over 1,150 in 2025 to 7,800 in 2026.

Opening Night Live 2026 broadcasts reached a combined peak of 1.74 million concurrent viewers across official channels and community broadcasts. The result was down 13.3% from last year’s show.

The official The Game Awards and gamescom channels were the most popular broadcasts of Opening Night Live 2026. Zack “zackrawrr” Hoyt (Asmongold) led the community casters, attracting more than 65.3K Peak Viewers on Twitch.

Twitch was the leading platform for the show, accounting for more than 62% of its total Hours Watched. YouTube ranked second with a 34.6% share.

The biggest game announcements from Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 

Among the show’s biggest announcements was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past, a new expansion from CD Projekt Red scheduled for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. CD Projekt Red also unveiled a remastered edition of The Witcher 3, set for release on September 29, 2026.

Square Enix presented a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. The game is scheduled for release in spring 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Gears of War: E-Day, developed by The Coalition and People Can Fly, also received a new trailer during the show. The prequel is scheduled for release on October 6, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with day-one availability through Game Pass.
