Gears of War: E-Day had more peak channels on launch day than 007 First Light and Control 2
Xbox's latest title, Gears of War: E-Day, reached a peak channel count of over 3K, making it one of the platform’s most played titles on its release day. It also beat the all-time simultaneous channel count of other high-profile 2026 releases like 007 First Light, Halo: Campaign Evolved and Control 2.
Gears of War: E-Day is a third-person shooter developed by The Coalition and published by Xbox Game Studios that officially released on October 6, 2026. The game serves as a prequel to the legendary sci-fi franchise, taking players back 14 years before the events of the original Gears of War to witness the horrific chaos of Emergence Day, the exact moment the subterranean Locust Horde first invaded the planet Sera.
The game was available in early access from October 1, 2026, to players who purchased the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade (for Standard Edition owners), or the Collector's Edition. This was especially useful for content creators, as it offered them a five-day head start to showcase their gameplay to viewers ahead of the full worldwide launch.

Gears of War: E-Day broadcasts generated 299,933 Hours Watched on Twitch on its official launch day. It also peaked at 47,974 viewers, as fans and streamers jumped on the bandwagon of the much-hyped latest instalment in the iconic franchise.
Most impressively, it reached a peak channel count of 3,171, making it one of the most played titles on October 6. It outperformed legacy names like Counter-Strike, League of Legends and Dota 2 by this metric.

At the time of writing on October 7, E-Day's peak channels count rose to 3,751, trailing only Fortnite among games. This also beat out the all-time peak simultaneous channel numbers of other 2026 launches like 007 First Light, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Pragmata, The Blood of Dawnwalker and Control 2.
In terms of release day performances for new titles in 2026, Gears of War: E-Day did not put up any breakthrough numbers. It also had to contend with other new October first-week launches like STAR WARS: Galactic Racer, ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE and Aion 2.

Zack "zackrawrr" Hoyt was its most-watched channel by a mile on release day, putting up an impressive 72.8 million HW on October 6. The popular Twitch streamer contributed just above 20% to the game's overall watch time generated on its launch day.

Extending E-Day's livestreaming numbers to include its early access data, the title put up 2.33 million HW and reached 90.7K Peak Viewers. These numbers helped it end within the top 20 most-watched and most popular Twitch games for this period.
Gears of War: E-Day was well-received online
