ZeratoR’s charity event “Z Event” returned in 2024 after a year’s break. Since the project’s beginnings in 2016, it has rapidly evolved to become one of the largest French charity events of the year and often records record-breaking viewership for French livestreaming. For 2024, the event moved to a hybrid-style integration of other streamers, and in the end, the Z Event 2024 became the third iteration in a row to raise more than $10M.
The 2024 edition of Z Event was announced only a couple of months ago in August. Its announcement came with the news that a new hybrid system would be introduced, allowing more creators than before to join the festivities. While 36 streamers were on-site for the event, another 100 creators dialled in remotely and took part from home. The hybrid model helped the Z Event 2024 to be broadcast by more than double the number of streamers who covered the previous edition.
Throughout the weekend of action, the 2024 edition of Z Event received 14.22M Hours Watched. This viewership came overwhelmingly from Twitch, with barely any YouTube-based broadcasters involved. French streamer Domingo hosted a final-day stream which became the second-most-popular French Twitch stream of 2024. In total, his broadcast received 1.42M Hours Watched.
The Z Event took place over an entire weekend, which helped it generate multi-million hours of watch time. Broadcasts for the event saw viewership fall during the night, but many streamers stayed and kept the remaining viewers entertained. Even at the event's lowest points during the middle of the night, Z Event 2024 still managed to maintain over 30,000 concurrent viewers.
Compared to previous iterations, viewership for the 2024 edition remained stable. The prior edition reached 573.5K PV, meaning there was a slight increase in 2024. However, the most popular Z Event ever maintains a wide margin ahead of both the 2024 and 2022 editions. The 2021 event managed to reach 1.31M Peak Viewers with the help of the pandemic streaming boom, and viewership for the Z Event has not been able to reach the same heights since.
Interestingly, ZeratoR’s domination of Z Events’ viewership is fading. Last edition, he was responsible for 13.9% of all event watch time, but in 2024, he generated only 7.7% of the Hours Watched. Although ZeratoR himself is usually the most-watched channel of his Z Events, another streamer emerged as the most popular personality this year.
Domingo’s channel was where most of the viewers for the final day tuned in. Not only did his stream generate a massive amount of watch time, but it also witnessed the event’s largest concurrent audience. Towards the end of the event, a huge crowd of streamers joined Domingo on-stream to wait for the event to raise $10M. This huge crowd of streamers and final moments of the event saw Domingo’s viewership soar to 312K Peak Viewers, making him the most popular streamer of this year’s Z Event.
Domingo led the way far ahead of any other creator this year. ZeratoR received only 217.2K Peak Viewers, the lowest peak concurrent viewership he has received for a Z Event since 2019. On top of this poor peak viewership performance, ZeratoR’s general viewership on the final day of the event was considerably lower, recording 27.4K Average Viewers on Sunday. Across the entire weekend, ZeratoR was only the fourth-most-watched creator at his own event.
French content creator Joueur_du_Grenier reached 135.4K Peak Viewers while hosting a quiz show as part of Sunday’s festivities. Although the broadcast was shorter compared to other Z Event streams, the concentrated nature of the content helped it to record an impressively high 101.1K Average Viewers. Etoiles also benefited from special events hosted on broadcast, having reached his highest peak viewership of 2024 thanks to Z Event activities.
Z Event returned after a year-long break and achieved nearly the same live viewership as before
Journalist and streamer samueletienne reached his peak viewership by his own means, celebrating the amounts donated to the event. The French streamer dyed his hair neon green earlier in the event before deciding to reveal his tattoos live on stream. Domingo joined him for this moment, and his audience rushing over to Samuel’s broadcast helped him reach 109K Peak Viewers, a new channel record for the creator.
The new hybrid model for the Z Event had an immediately direct impact on the viewership for the charity project. Many more streamers broadcasted the event on their personal channels, contributing to overall viewership, and ZeratoR has begun to become eclipsed by the event. With 2024 being the third year in a row of $10M raised for charity, future editions have a high bar set for them.
