PointCrow organizes an IRL game of battleship

On the 17th of October Twitch streamer Eric PointCrow Morino announced that an IRL game of battleship would take place on his stream on the 23rd of October. He is one of the most innovative content creators on the platform, so viewers couldn’t wait for the event. The event had the creator and his friend in a cabin close to a river where the replicas of the ships were placed. Ships were distributed on a 100ft by 100ft grid, and each player had five ships. When it comes to the rules, they were the same as the ones you find in the battleship board game.

It took a little more than two hours to find the winner of the event, as players went back and forth trying to discover where the opponent's ships were placed. The winner of the event won an actual boat and celebrated with some champagne.

19K Peak Viewers tuned in to see both players going at it, and watch some explosions happen when someone would guess the correct position of their opponent's ships. Unfortunately, that's not a very high number, especially when the event is so unique like this one. Viewers watched the broadcast for 27K hours, and the event had 10.3K AV. Viewers interacted with the stream by giving suggestions on chat that the participants could then choose to use or not in their next play. PointCrow chat had 2.5K Active Chatters who sent 25.6K messages, making the stream even more interesting. On average viewers watched 37 minutes of the almost 3 hours broadcast, which indicates that many viewers didn't stay until the end of the event.

The number of followers and subs gained wasn't astonishing, with just 289 new people following PointCrow, and 428 subs gained. PointCrow earned between $533-$1147 from the stream. During the stream, PointCrow said that wasn't the last event he was going to organize on that location, so maybe the second edition of battleship IRL is already in the making, or the content creator has his eyes already set on a new project.

Eric Morino started his career on YouTube in 2019, and his content was focused on speedrun games. He became very popular in the genre, but in early 2020s decided to become a variety streamer. Since then, he started to create diverse types of content, that were very successful. PointCrow is in the 1% of most-watched streamers by the English language and overall on the platform, and in the past month, Elden Ring was his most popular game with viewers watching his broadcasts for 97K hours.
