Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik became the most-watched community caster of Valorant Champions 2022, amassing just 16% fewer Hours Watched than the official English-language broadcast. In a new article, we will take a closer look at his tournament broadcast statistics and talk about the streamer's audience overlap with other channels that broadcast the championship.
Community casting plays a very important role in Valorant esports, as independent streamers gather huge audiences on their broadcasts. Their contribution to the Hours Watched number of major tournaments often exceeds that of the official broadcasts. For example, the community casters accumulated 50.9% of the total HW at the last world championship.
Valorant Champions 2022 has become the most popular tournament in the discipline, drawing over 1.5 million Peak Viewers at the Grand Final between OpTic Gaming and LOUD. Broadcasts of this championship on the tarik channel totaled 7.75 million HW — about 13% of the tournament's total. More than 1.38 million Unique Viewers, of whom 82% were authorized on Twitch (this part of the audience will be covered in the article below), watched the creator's streams.
It is interesting that absolutely every Valorant Champions 2022 broadcast of tarik was watched by only 1.8% of the Authorized Viewers. At the same time, more than 93.5% of viewers stayed on tarik's streams for fewer than 25% of the total airtime. However, there were also a small portion of viewers who stayed with tarik for almost the whole tournament from the beginning to the end (they watched broadcasts for more than 99.5% of total airtime).
About 41% of the viewers who watched tarik during Valorant Champions 2022 never watched the streamer in the 30 days prior to the tournament. Because of this, tarik's audience grew noticeably, with more than 11.8K Twitch users subscribing to his channel, and more than 103.3K people becoming new followers. At the same time, 34.3% of the subscriptions were first-time subscribers, 54% were re-subscribers, and 11.7% were gift subscribers. Tarik's subscription revenue ranged from $24.4K to $33K, depending on regional prices.
Throughout the Valorant Champions 2022 broadcasts on the tarik channel, more than 1.7 million messages were sent in the chat, with almost 5.9 million words. During the group stage of the tournament, chat was slightly more active than during the playoffs. Throughout the whole tournament, slightly more than 165.8K viewers (approximately 14.7% of the streamer's audience) sent at least one message in the tarik's live broadcast chat. Also, over 30.5K bits, which is Twitch's currency, were spent in the chat during the tournament, and 71 Cheers were sent by 58 Cheers chatters.
When we analyzed the audiences of the other Valorant Champions 2022 coverage channels, we found that tarik was watched by approximately 30.7% of viewers of the official English-language Valorant channel. In addition, tarik was of interest to nearly 47% of TenZ viewers and over 45% of Shroud's audience. It is interesting that tarik is an American streamer of Turkish origin, and his broadcasts were followed by 18.5% of the viewers of the Turkish streamer wtcN. Also, the creator was of interest to 14.7% of the Spanish Mixwell creator audience and 12.1% of the viewers of the official Japanese-language channel of the game.
