As Summer leaves us behind, it's time to take a look at the top sponsored streams of August. This summer saw streamers take sponsorships and connect with all different kinds of brands. From the usual game promotion to gaming peripherals and even esports events, streamers promoted all sorts of products throughout the dusk Summer month. Here we’ll take a look at the most-watched promotional and sponsored streams of August for both YouTube Live and Twitch.
Most popular sponsored streams on Twitch August 2023

At the top of our rankings for August is shroud. The American headshot machine garnered 755.6K hours of watch time during his launch stream for Starfield, the highly anticipated RPG from Bethesda Game Studios. As if Bethesda’s history with Elder Scrolls and Fallout wasn’t enough to hype up their latest RPG release, they also reached out to various streamers to cover the launch day of the title.
Shroud was live for over 17 hours covering Starfield and his coverage of the game was not only the most popular sponsored stream of the month but one of his most popular streams of 2023. Shroud’s Starfield stream was his fifth-most popular stream of the year per Peak Viewers and he reached 67.8K concurrent viewers at peak. Starfield’s release has been hugely successful on Twitch, so check out our article on the viewership for its release day here.
Next up was Maximilian_DOOD, who ranked second in our list with 535.5K Hours Watched. The fighting game enthusiast and community caster reached this peak during his coverage of Evo 2023. The American was sponsored by Qanba, a gaming peripherals company for arcade sticks and buttons. Evo as a fighting game tournament is obviously a key opportunity for a company like Qanba, and their sponsorship of Maximilian was well-timed as the stream became his most-watched stream ever.
Third and fourth place both went to CohhCarnage, who had a fantastic month for sponsorships. He was another top streamer who was sponsored by Bethesda to cover the launch day of Starfield and he reached massive peak viewership with 70.9K Peak Viewers, the most of anyone on our list.
Not only covering Starfield, Cohh also streaming the launch day of Baldur’s Gate 3, another title which had a massive reception on Twitch in terms of viewership. He received just under 500K hours of watch time for his stream of the game but he returned to Baldur’s Gate 3 many times on stream and achieved solid viewership every time. As expected for any RPG, he reached his peak concurrent viewers figure at the climax of gameplay: the character creation screen.
Finally, shroud took the final spot on the rankings with his community cast of the Gamers8 CS:GO event alongside summit1g. Both streamers were sponsored by Gamers8 to cover the event and they both received decent viewership. They weren’t the most popular broadcasts for the event, but neither of them are dedicated CS:GO streamers anymore. Regardless, shroud’s 171.6K Hours Watched during the community cast was enough to rank 5th on our list for August.
Most popular sponsored streams on YouTube Gaming August 2023

Looking at the red platform, Ludwig dominated the website in terms of sponsored streams for the month. The ex-Twitch streamer received 35.3K hours of watch time during his sponsored stream of Across the Obelisk. An unknown title compared to some of the other games that will be mentioned in the YouTube section of this article, his viewership was helped by the streamers he collaborated with for this stream. QTCinderella, PointCrow, and Squeex all showed up to the sponsored stream with Ludwig as they explored the title.
Ludwig’s sponsored stream of Nakara: Bladepoint was also enough to earn him second on the list, with 25.6K Hours Watched. Ludwig’s stream of the free-to-play Battle Royale game that was released in 2021 received decent viewership, but the Peak Viewers figure here can be misleading. Ludwig’s sponsored stream was not its own dedicated stream, but a game he switched to after playing a trivia game for a couple of hours. He achieved the Peak Viewers figure a few minutes into the sponsored stream before viewership began to drop off.
Following Ludwig was DrLupo and his sponsored stream for Armored Core VI. Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon is a new mecha combat game developed by FromSoftware. FromSoftware is a name that carries a lot of weight in the gaming sphere and DrLupo’s was decently well-received compared to other streams on his channel. However, it can’t stand up to his Starfield release day stream which received 90K Hours Watched, although not a sponsored stream.
Next up is The Spiffing Brit, who received 9K hours of watch time during his stream for Homeworld 3. Homeworld 3 is an upcoming RTS game that’s scheduled for release in early 2024, developed by Blackbird Interactive. Although one of the more popular sponsored streams that took place on YouTube Gaming this month, the stream performed just average by the Brit’s standards, not venturing too far above or below his average metrics.
Finally finishing off our rankings for August was Valkyrae, one of the most popular female streamers on YouTube. She went live to check out the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game, which although released last year has an upcoming DLC to be released this month. Valkyrae received 8.2K hours of watch time and a peak viewership of 6.8K concurrent viewers during the sponsored segment, but during the same stream a few hours later she went to play some drinking games with friends and reached 12.1K PV. Although she received decent viewership during this sponsored stream, it was overshadowed by her own popularity.
Overall, Twitch received better highs than YouTube Live for sponsored streams this month. New releases like Starfield and Baldur’s Gate 3 dominated sponsored streams for the month and Maximilian_DOOD’s sponsorship with Qanba was the perfect match for his coverage of Evo 2023. YouTube Live received the viewership we’ve come to expect from the platform, but the sponsored streams were unable to reach new peaks and heights for the channels, rather underperforming compared to other streams.
