On August 31, the first user streams of Starfield — the long-awaited open-world space action RPG from Bethesda Game Studios — appeared on Twitch. This happened a week before the official release on PC and Xbox, as the developers provided early access to creator partners and premium edition owners. Top streamers immediately embarked on interstellar journeys with their viewers, attracting tens of thousands of people to their screens.
On the first day, the Starfield category on Twitch accumulated approximately 3.5 million Hours Watched and drew 550.6K Peak Viewers. In comparison, Baldur's Gate 3, which was released a month earlier, had 3.7 million Hours Watched and 481.5K Peak Viewers on release day.
Compared to other major releases of 2023, Starfield surpassed Diablo IV by Hours Watched, but significantly lagged behind by Peak Viewers — Blizzard's game gathered 941.5K PV on its first day. This is despite Diablo IV having two stages of open beta testing beforehand, allowing viewers to visually assess the game long before its release. Hogwarts Legacy also remained unmatched, holding the record for Peak Viewers among single-player titles on Twitch — 1.27 million viewers.
The most popular Starfield streamer on the game's release day was American CohhCarnage — on August 31, his channel accumulated 523K HW and drew nearly 71K PV. Canadian streamer shroud takes second place — with 471K HW and 67.8K PV. Slightly lower in both aspects is Spanish streamer IlloJuan.

Most popular Starfield Twitch streamers on release day
Rubius, Kamet0, Auronplay, summit1g, and others can be noted among other popular Twitch streamers who have turned their attention to Starfield on the day of its release.
The official release of Starfield on PC and Xbox will take place on September 6. It is worth reminding that the announcement of the Bethesda game took place back in 2018, which is why Starfield is rightfully called one of the most highly anticipated projects in recent years.
