Streams Charts summarizes the month on Twitch. In August, the platform's key metrics experienced a slight decline compared to July. This is most apparent in the Peak Viewers number, which dropped by a significant 34%. Among other highlights, American streamer Tarik reached over 10 million Hours Watched thanks to a community-driven Valorant casting, helping the Riot Games shooter surpass League of Legends in the top of the categories.
We should remind you that in July, Spanish streamer ibai hosted another boxing show match La Velada Del Año III, where a new platform record for Peak Viewers was set. There were no such high-profile events in August, which is why there was such a big drop in the metric. We should also note that August, with 4 million Peak Viewers, is still Twitch's worst month so far by this metric. In 2023, this metric has not yet fallen below 4.3 million.

Small changes have been seen in the Top 3 most popular categories on Twitch. The categories Just Chatting and Grand Theft Auto V have maintained their positions but have lost 7% and 24% of the total Hours Watched compared to the previous month, respectively. The third spot in the Top 3 was taken by Valorant, a shooter game from Riot Games, which accumulated over 100 million Hours Watched, surpassing League of Legends from the same company. Valorant Champions 2023 broadcasts played a significant role in this. It is worth noting that this is Valorant's second-best performance this year, with only May having more Hours Watched (103 million).
League of Legends and CS:GO round out the Top 5 categories. While League of Legends lost 12% in Hours Watched, Valve's shooter game gained around 5% in the same metric compared to the previous month, thanks to the Gamers8 2023 and IEM Cologne 2023 tournaments.
Among the reshuffles in the second half of the Top, we can note the debut of Baldur's Gate 3 in sixth place. The single-player game from Larian Studios racked up 45.5 million Hours Watched last month.

As for global changes, Teamfight Tactics and Apex Legends dropped out of the Top 10, making way for BG3 and Escape from Tarkov. The latter gained a few positions thanks to another round of drops, which attracted both streamers and viewers.
