On August 5, ElSpreen began a 24-hour live stream from within a temporary room built near the top of The Obelisk of Buenos Aires, a historic monument for the nation and icon of the capital city. It ended up pulling in a record number of viewers, becoming the Argentine Twitch megastar's most-watched stream to date.
This memorial is housed in the Plaza de la República, which is the intersection of two avenues: Corrientes and 9 de Julio. Erected in 1936 to commemorate the quadricentennial of the city's first foundation, it also hosted the opening ceremony of the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.
The broadcast, titled 24 Horas en El Obelisco (24 hours at The Obelisk), hit 2M Hours Watched, a new personal record for the influencer's channel. It shattered his previous mark — set on August 14, 2022 — by 81.4%, with these being the only two streams to pass the 1M milestone.
Last year's video was labeled Mega Stream Epic Minecraft, and as the name suggests, involved ElSpreen playing the popular Sandbox game for more than eight hours. Interestingly, while the 2022 stream also made the top ten list of his most popular broadcasts ever, the record-setting 2023 one only came in at 16th.
When looking at the chat stats from the recent stream, it received 1M total messages for a massive chat engagement rate of 14.3%. Another sign of its popularity was that the active chatters count was 140K, with the top word shared across the chat being the purple heart emoji (61K mentions).
ElSpreen is perhaps the biggest Twitch streamer from Argentina, and such videos only reaffirm that fact. He is the 13th most followed content creator on the purple platform and is the only one from his country in the top 30. With the kind of numbers he regularly puts up, it's not hard to see why that is the case, and he only seems to be getting better with each broadcast.
