A handful of Twitch Rivals events were held in July, including less heralded but equally enjoyable disciplines like Among Us and Fall Guys. However, it was a special event that is highly followed by fans that managed to come out as the most popular, although it shouldn't come as a surprise as it emanated from a highly-successful convention.
The most popular was the Twitch Rivals Ultimate Challenge, Live from Paris, which recorded 114K Peak Viewers. Held at the TwitchCon Paris 2023, it was the most followed among the four competitions held at the Twitch Rivals Arena in the capital of France. In this unique concept, six events were conducted:
- Round 1: Baguette Derby (IRL)
- Round 2: Minecraft Race
- Round 3: Wreckfest 4v4
- Round 4: Boomerang Fu 2v2s
- Round 5: Lunch Hour Rush (IRL)
- Round 6 (Top two teams): Kitchen Chaos (IRL)
Eight teams and a total of 32 participants competed against each other to gain points in a mix of five different IRL and video game challenges. The top two then went head-to-head in an IRL Finals, with the winner taking home $15K, while the runner-up and third-placed sides received $12K and $9K, respectively.
In fact, this fun activity did 45.5% better than the next-best Twitch Rivals tournament last month. That came at the Twitch Rivals Rocket League Face Off ft. Rizzo, with the former Rocket League pro and current caster's presence no doubt helping it reach a wider audience. This discipline has consistently been one of the most followed in this series, and it follows the growing trend of the esports scene seeing a growth recently.
The third-most popular competition was Twitch Rivals: Fall Guys Showdown ft. ZeratoR, with the French Twitch star ending as its most-watched content creator. He also won this gong for Twitch Rivals VALORANT Mode Mash-up (the fourth most popular entry for July), making him the second-most viewed individual handle across the four events and the third-most overall at this semi-annual gaming convention for Twitch.
The League of Legends Showdown TwitchCon Paris was fifth, followed by the Twitch Rivals Friday Night Bites ft. Chrissy Costanza & Among Us and the Twitch Rivals: r/place 2023 Live Pixel Canvas. These disciplines usually make up the latter rows of any Twitch Rivals table as fans seem to prefer the other, more frenetic disciplines, so finding them in these positions is not unusual.
Coming to the most popular Twitch Rivals events of all time, it is a Minecraft one-two as the Twitch Rivals Squid Craft Games ft. Komanche is number one with 2.2M PV, while it is the most watched competition ever. In second is the Twitch Rivals Squid Craft Games 2 (Survival Cup), while it's the most-watched tournament of all time with 22M Hours Watched. Both these lists are dominated by games like Rust, Valorant, Fall Guys, and Apex Legends, giving an idea as to what fans prefer from these competitions and what they don't.
There were also other streamer competitions held in July, including Streamer Camp Season 4 and Jerma’s House Flipper Invitational. The former, hosted by Fuslie, was not as popular as the latter, organized by Jerma985. However, their numbers were evidence of the growing interest among users for such content creator-focused tournaments and competitions.
With one more TwitchCon yet to come, and with the increasing success of such non-esports events capturing the attention of fans worldwide, expect these numbers to rise, while also seeing an increase in the number of such events being held in the future. For now, only the BattleBit Remastered Team Battle event has been announced for August, with more details to be announced soon.
