On July 30, in the German city of Mainz, a show football tournament called Battle of The Socials 2023 (BoTS) took place. It featured Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram teams, consisting of popular German content creators. The matches took place on the same day at the MEWA Arena in Mainz.
The social media teams were represented by popular streamers and bloggers. For example, the Twitch team was led by Eliasn97 (1.6 million followers), and the lineup included Niklas Wilson, Trymacs, HoneyPuu, Lets Hugo, and other streamers. The captain of the YouTube team was popular blogger Knossi (1.5 million subscribers), accompanied by Fritz Meinecke, Aditotoro, Hannah Tulnik, and others. The TikTok team was led by Younes Zarou, and the captain of the Instagram team was the owner of the lisaandlena channel. The full list of participants can be found on the organizers' website.
On the only day of the tournament, four matches were held. In the final match, the TikTok team crushed the YouTube team with a score of 5-1. In the match for third place, the Instagram team defeated its opponents from Twitch with a score of 3-2. After the final, an award ceremony took place — the winning team was presented with a symbolic trophy.

The trend of media football continues to gain momentum among popular content creators. Now, the German event Battle of The Socials 2023 has joined the show matches of Sidemen and the Spanish Kings League. In terms of viewership, it currently falls behind the other two series, but it could potentially compete with them in the future. It is worth noting that the recently concluded final of the second season of Kings League attracted over 1.3 million Peak Viewers. Perhaps the organizers of the Battle of The Socials should consider attracting professional players or changing the format.
