Streams Charts has made reports on the most popular Twitch languages with a detailed analysis of 2021 and a comparison with the results of 2020. In total, there are 5 reports covering different languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French.
In this report, you will see not only the overall performance of English-speaking streamers on Twitch in 2021 but also a detailed analysis and segmentation of channels and categories. More importantly, we have also analyzed viewership activity and its growth dynamics. The analysis used common key metrics for analysis and streaming statistics, including:
Hours Watched. The time spent by viewers watching a unit of content. This figure is based on two metrics — Airtime and the Average Viewers number. If 1,500 viewers watched the channel's content for 2 hours, the channel accumulated 3,000 Hours Watched. 750 viewers will generate the same number of Hours Watched but in 4 hours of Airtime.
Unique Channels. This is the number of streamers that were on the air at least once during the chosen period of time, in our case — in 2021. It is important to understand that the total number of channels in the English-speaking segment exceeds the specified number, but not all of them were on the air in 2021, and we analyzed only active channels.
Unique Authorized Viewers. This is not the same as unique viewers. Authorized Viewers are only those viewers who watch broadcasts authorized on Twitch on any device. This metric is 100% accurate, and it is easier to interact with this audience.
Finally, we should note that the English-speaking audience is not only from the USA or the United Kingdom but all other viewers who watched the broadcasts in English.
