Korean livestreaming service CHZZK continued its upward trajectory when it reached a new platform record for peak concurrent viewers on July 20. It hit 538,063 Peak Viewers (PV), surpassing the previous milestone by around 21%. This number was reached during the Grand Final of the Esports World Cup for League of Legends.
Intriguingly, the previous record was also reached at a LoL event. On November 2, 2024, during the thrilling Grand Final of the 2024 League of Legends World Championship between T1 and Bilibili Gaming, CHZZK touched 445.2K PV. This helped it reach a higher platform PV number than more established names like Trovo and Bigo LIVE.
CHZZK was started by the South Korean company Naver in late 2023 to fill the gap left by Twitch’s exit from the country. It benefited immensely from a lot of the country’s top names on the purple platform jumping ship once the Amazon-owned service ceased operations, and these streamers have been a big reason for CHZZK quickly gaining prominence and reaching new PV highs.
The likes of Wolf and Han Dong-sook, among CHZZK's most popular content creators, were active on July 20 either as part of the coverage of the EWC 2025 or livestreaming some other gaming content. However, it was the official esports broadcasting channels like LCK and EWC that did the heavy lifting for the new platform record, with the latter reaching #1 on the table of the CHZZK’s most popular channels with 216,822 PV.
CHZZK continues to prove its growing influence in the esports broadcasting scene every month, led by Korean audiences’ love for games like League of Legends. Having left some legacy platforms behind with its new PV mark, the service will now certainly feel that it can match the all-time marks of Kick, SOOP Korea (ex-AfreecaTV), and Rumble this year, especially with a lot of world championship events scheduled over the next few months.
