The Spanish-language segment is one of the largest on Twitch. Spanish streamers are consistently among the top 10 most watched creators on the platform, they support each other's original events, and they often break viewership records. Previously, we've talked about how Hispanic streamers are taking over Twitch, breaking into all sorts of Tops, and in a new article we'll look at the impact of these creators on the popularity of specific categories of the platform.
Impact on Minecraft Statistics
Different Minecraft events have a special place in the heart of the Hispanic streamer community. In January 2022, the RP event TortillaLand and the "Squid Game"-inspired Squidcraft Games ended. In that month, Minecraft's Hours Watched number totaled 60 million, with more than 42% of this total amassed on Spanish-language broadcasts. The debut Saw Minecraft Games event, inspired by the movie "Saw", took place in June and significantly boosted Hours Watched of the popular sandbox game on Twitch again.
July was an even more successful month for Minecraft. The RP events KARMALAND 5 and Dedsafío Minecraft 2 nearly reached 54 million HW, with Hispanic viewers contributing over 53% of the total. In August, TortillaLand 2 helped Minecraft exceed 92 million HW, more than 72% of which was accumulated by Spanish-speaking viewers. We should remind you that in the last month of summer the legendary sandbox was in the Top 5 most popular categories on Twitch.
Impact on Special Events Statistics
Throughout most of the first half of 2022, Hispanic viewers generated nearly half of the total Hours Watched of Special Events on Twitch. In January, Hispanic creators contributed more than 66% of the total broadcasting ESLAND Awards, an awards ceremony for content creators from Spain, Latin America and Andorra, hosted by Spanish streamer David 'TheGrefg' Cánovas
In February, the Hispanic segment's contribution to category's HW number rose to 69.2% as a result of Ibai's cooking and racing streamer events. Ibai Llanos also ran smaller events in March and May, which resulted in Hispanic HW contributions of 48.1% and 55.9%, respectively. June was the most successful month for Special Events as the category racked up over 34 million HW. At the same time, Hispanic viewers generated 53% of this number, as they followed VELADA DEL AÑO 2, a massive boxing event for streamers hosted by Ibai. We should remind you that during the broadcast of this event, Ibai Llanos set a new record for Peak Viewers on Twitch.
Impact on Rust Statistics
Spanish-speaking creators had the biggest impact on Rust's popularity in January, when the game was updated and amassed more than 63.3 million HW on Twitch. The Spanish-language segment then contributed 86.3% of the HW total, a result of the EGOLAND 2 event and the Twitch drops that accompanied it.
Impact on FIFA 22 Statistics
Hispanic viewership contribution to FIFA 22's HW on Twitch rarely rose above 20%, but in April the number was above 30%. The reason is that 16 Spanish streamers, including Ibai, Auronplay and aXoZer, created their own virtual football club PORCINOS and actively played FIFA 22 throughout the month.
Impact on Fall Guys Statistics
Hispanic streamers gave Fall Guys plenty of attention at the beginning of the year, accumulating over 37% of category's HW, but by late spring that number dropped to 12%. In June, the game became free to play, and its popularity on Twitch increased several times over, with Hispanic contribution reaching 22.7%. That was followed by the Twitch Rivals Fall Guys Showdown event in July, as well as various "Streamers vs. Viewers" and "5 wins in a row" challenges. These events helped the game exceed 33.7 million HW, 25% of which were generated by the Hispanic community.
***
As you can see, Spanish-speaking creators can significantly boost any category on Twitch thanks to their incredible cohesion. Events hosted by this streamer community are often original and sometimes have no analogues in the world, which attracts the attention of even non-Spanish speaking viewers.
