On January 6, three Twitch streamers — Kai Cenat, CaseOh, and Jynxzi — held a joint live broadcast that saw the first two names go head to head in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. The unique part was that the latter, a popular proponent of this first-person shooter, had coached Kai and got him ready for this battle of the platform stars.
It has to be remembered that Kai Cenat and Jynxzi had also come together to play R6 and Fortnite, with this November 2023 collab stream becoming the latter's third-most popular ever at that time. The 22-year-old’s story is of a streamer whose hard work to show up almost daily to go live and dedicated effort to build up his community saw him become the most-subscribed creator on the purple platform.
Getting back to the topic at hand, with an 8-3 win that could have been a lot worse, CaseOh won the bragging rights hands down; it could have been a lot worse for his opponent and fellow American. In fact, Kai's gameplay was deemed so bad at the end of the match-up that Jynxzi held nothing back and said:
"Kai, I say this with the utmost disrespect, but dude, you are the worst R6 player I have seen in my life. You just said grenade out and threw one at a wall; are you serious, dude? I poured my heart and soul into coaching you, and what do I get back? Grenade out on a brick f***ing wall. Never play this game again, Kai."
This scathing assessment almost left Kai in tears, with the most-watched Twitch streamer of 2023 feebly responding he had gotten more experience from this game and wanted to go one more time. However, Jynxzi had quit the game and stream by then, leaving Kai to pick up the pieces of quite the embarrassing moment live on air.
One person who was definitely not anywhere close to crying was CaseOh, whose stream of this domination became his most popular ever, aside from finishing second on the Hours Watched and Average Viewers tables. Having joined the streaming service as recently as 2018, it has been an enjoyable journey for the Twitch Partner, whose watch stats saw massive spikes across 2023.
The American's watch time and popularity in terms of peak and average viewership grew by 5604.8%, 4213.9%, and 2837.7% year-on-year. The variety streamer has been pretty popular among audiences since last year, and he is reaping the benefits of this hard work by sharing live broadcast space with some of the platform’s most followed stars.
The overall peak viewership notched was 260.9K people, with the highest among the three coming from Jynxzi's channel. While not competing himself, he was there on call with his ward to guide him during the game and even provide important info like the status and location of his enemy.
As someone who is thorough in his knowledge of the game and its competitive intricacies and having already battled his student earlier, it made sense for him to act as a guide to the Kai Cenat. However, as noted above, that did not help alter the outcome.
The overall broadcast also managed to hit 392.9 HW over two hours and 15 minutes of airtime, Jynxzi again leading the charge with a 46.3% share of this figure, followed by Kai (34%) and CaseOh (19.7%). The three individual streams also swept the podium as the most popular ones for the day, i.e., January 6, becoming the only videos to cross 65K PV.
Chat analytics of KaiCenat x CaseOh x Jynxzi’s collab stream
Unsurprisingly, the internet star mentioned the most on chat during this livestream was Case, with 12.6K mentions, followed by Kai (8.3K) and Jynxzi (2.4K). The leader may not have been as illustrious as the two colleagues he shared screen space with, and perhaps not many viewers even knew who he was, but the American definitely left a mark on them by the end of his match.
It has to be noted that Kai ended up calling his friend Ray and literally poured out his feelings to him, meaning the latter also got around one and a half thousand mentions during this livestream. Intriguingly, the two met while the Twitch megastar was on a trip to Asia, with the Taiwanese actually being a fan who became one of Kai's best friends once they met in Japan and got to know each other.
Trio's shenanigans help outdo Rainbow Six's 2023 esports scene
This shared broadcast became more popular than the most important 2023 esports competition of the very game they were playing. The overall peak of this livestream ended up doing better than the two best events of Rainbow Six Siege from last year — the Six Invitational 2023 (the Grand Final between G2 Esports and w7m esports did 232.2 PV) and the BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen 2023 (the Finals between Team Liquid and w7m recorded 118.8 PV).
While such occurrences happen in isolation each year, especially if held in popular disciplines by the correct streamers for the right audience, this one has seemingly given a glimpse into the future. With the esports scenes of many games seeing viewership declines, perhaps the way to win back lapsed audiences and bring in new ones will be by using such prominent online stars to appear in a broadcasting (co-streaming) capacity.
The fact that Kai was roasted so badly by Jynxzi right after suffering a pretty bad loss to Case made for some entertaining content. He ended up in tears and called his countryman to get a rematch, to which he was told, to wait a week or two, adding to the unfolding drama. Eventually, it was a pretty popular broadcast that helped all three content creators garner some attention and start the new year on a good note.
