September turned out to be a tough month for Kick — for the first time since its launch, the platform saw a decline across all metrics, including key ones like viewer counts and the number of active channels. However, while the dip may seem concerning at first glance, it's important to consider the broader context.
Given the rapid growth Kick experienced over the past few months, a slight pullback was almost inevitable as the platform found its equilibrium. In fact, these modest declines are more of a recalibration rather than a genuine setback. When viewed on a global scale, Kick’s overall trajectory remains strong, with its user base and engagement levels still significantly higher than where they started. For a platform still in its early stages, short-term fluctuations like these are natural and not necessarily indicative of a long-term trend.
Last month, watch time fell by a notable 9% compared to August’s figures. Additionally, the number of active channels continued its downward trend for the fourth consecutive month, while the average number of live channels shrank for the third straight month, with September showing a more pronounced decline than both July and August.
As a result, Kick has returned to levels not seen in several months — a stark contrast to the record-breaking watch time and average viewer count the platform achieved in August. While these declines are noteworthy, they are not critical and should be viewed in the context of the platform's overall growth and potential for recovery.
Most watched Kick categories, September 2024
The significant drop in watch time primarily impacted the two most popular categories on the platform: Just Chatting and Grand Theft Auto V (GTA). While they managed to hold their positions, they lost 10% and 31% by the end of September, respectively. Valorant and Garena Free Fire also took a major hit, with both falling out of the top 10 by month’s end.
On the flip side, the categories that saw the biggest gains were Dota 2 and Minecraft. Dota 2 experienced an impressive 39% increase, largely thanks to community casting of The International 2024 by streamers from Peru and Southeast Asia. Streams from this tournament alone accounted for about 25% of the watch time for the entire category. Meanwhile, the Minecraft section grew by 53%, driven by two top Spanish-speaking streamers, Spreen and westcol, who participated in the DEDsafio event.

Most watched and most popular Kick channels, September 2024
The most-watched streamer on Kick in September was Adin Ross, who doubled watch time compared to the previous month and climbed from fifth to first place. Throughout the month, his streams featured a lot of IRL content, including vlogs of his trip across Canada, collaborations with other streamers, and commentary on the U.S. presidential candidate debates. His most-watched stream was an IRL session from Las Vegas, where he explored clubs and casinos with Sketch and other friends.
Moroccan streamer ilyaselmaliki, who returned to Kick in August after nearly a year off, had his first full month on the platform in September, managing to secure second place with regular streams of GTA V and EA Sports FC25.
Taking the third spot was westcol, one of the platform’s leading streamers and the most popular streamer from Colombia. He amassed around 4.2 million Hours Watched for the month. Notably, westcol also had the highest peak viewer count, with over 160,000 people tuning in at once during a stream of his team, West Santos FC, in the Kings League.
Another standout in the top ten is Spreen, a popular Twitch streamer from Argentina. He joined Kick in September and only streamed a few times, but that was enough to land him in the top rankings.
Most Watched Female Kick streamers, September 2024
Just like last month, Amouranth was once again the queen of the female streamer rankings on Kick. In September, the American streamer logged slightly fewer HW than in August, but she still more than doubled the result of her closest competitor. Notably, Amouranth also regained her title as the most popular female streamer based on peak viewer count.
An interesting trend from last month was the rise of several Turkish streamers in the female rankings. Alongside nemesis, blush and nesrin have joined the lineup, and if we expand to the top 15, we can add nympea and ozgis to the list. Most of these streamers primarily focus on the Just Chatting and IRL content, though they also host gaming streams for titles like Fortnite, EA Sports FC 25, and Minecraft.
