Ludwig to make Twitch return with Creator Dodgeball World Championship

Ludwig to make Twitch return with Creator Dodgeball World Championship
Share:

The first-ever Creator Dodgeball World Championship has been announced, and it will bring an end to one of the longest separations in the streaming industry. On December 4, Ludwig posted a video on social media about this competition between streamers from various streaming services that will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

This obviously means that he will be live on the purple platform, and considering how taboo both companies treat such instances of crossovers, clarifications were needed. The American did so by saying that he would be representing Team YouTube at the tournament and that it would be broadcast on the Twitch handle of his company, Mogul Moves, apart from his own account on the red platform.

Returning to the event, it will feature 30 influencers from platforms like Kick and Facebook, apart from podcasters and chessboxers, alongside the two sites mentioned above. They will be split into six teams, with the action going down on December 10 from 1 PM PST/4 PM ET.

Readers interested in attending the tournament in person in Los Angeles can check this link, with tickets starting at $29.50. So far, names like OfflineTV, Valkyrae, Hasan, and Sykkuno have been mooted as participants, so the star power will be dialed to 100 for fans if they are eventually confirmed.

Ludwig’s history with Twitch and YouTube

The 28-year-old began his live streaming journey with Twitch in 2018, making content with the Amazon-owned site until three years later. It was a pretty fruitful relationship, with the online star holding a subathon in 2021 that made him the most subscribed streamer on the platform of all time. He reached around 282K subscribers at its peak, beating the previous mark set by fellow internet sensation Ninja.

It was this effort that won him the Streamer of the Year award at the 2022 Streamer Awards, although, by the time of the show, he had moved to YouTube. His move to YouTube Gaming, an exclusive deal, was confirmed on November 29, 2021, and he has remained with the Google-owned service since.

He has 3.09M followers on his now inactive Twitch account, although it could be up and running again if his dodgeball activities are anything to go by. On its rival platform, he has 5.53M subscribers and remains one of its most recognizable and prominent faces.

Ludwig's previous two competitions, the Mogul Chessboxing Championship and the World’s Greatest Gamer, were pretty successful and well-received by fans. With him repping Team YouTube at the dodgeball tournament, and with brand supremacy on the line, it is sure to leave a mark and continue his run of organizing winning events.
