In 2020, Twitch viewers saw a lot of funny, sad, ridiculous, and sometimes frankly strange and indescribable moments. The results of the year include ten most popular Twitch clips, three of which amassed more than a million views each!
Disclaimer: over the course of the year, many popular clips have been removed, don't be surprised if a clip that you saw a few months ago won’t be found here.
Honorable Mention — HealthyGamer_GG (clip by LymePlays)
Twitch was hit by one of its biggest tragedies of 2020 in early July, when everyone learned of the death of one of the first (and one of the most popular) streamers of the website - Byron “Reckful” Bernstein. He was suffering from depression and bipolar personality disorder for a long time.
Everyone knew about Reckful's mental health problems, and many provided as much help as they could. In December 2019, Bernstein talked with the famous Twitch psychiatrist Dr. Kanoya for two hours, and they subsequently became friends. When the doctor found out about Reckful's death, he could not hold back his tears and reminded everyone that depression shouldn’t be fought alone. The clip scored 635 thousand views, being one spot away from getting into the top 10.

#10 — ludwig (clip by dubsubs200)
Opening the top is the American content creator Ludwig Ahgren, known among the fans of Super Smash Bros. Melee. On one of the broadcasts, he was evaluating the content of fellow streamers, and at some point the conversation turned to the Botez sisters. Ahgren started saying how he doesn’t really like their content, because they tend to simply watch something and share their reaction; during that the American opened the stream of the sisters… only to find out that they were watching his broadcast at that very moment! It was too perfect of a coincidence: the users in the chat were dying of laughter, while Ahgren barely kept himself from laughing. The video scored 643 thousand views.
#9 — DrLupo (clip by GogglesPGH)
While playing Among Us, Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo came across a message from a hater (an adult one). The anonymous user bashed the content of Lupo and his friends in a rather rude manner, claiming it was nonsensical for his offspring to like the streamer so much. DrLupo flared back at him, advising the hater to sod off in a rather expressive manner. The clip gathered 708 thousand views.
#8 — izidore (clip by WilderSurprise)
Attention! Turn down the volume – and don't say we didn't warn you.
In this video, seagulls are screaming very loudly. That’s all. The video was viewed a total of 805 thousand times (who are all these crazy people?).
#7 — Arjay (clip by FinFamOce)
The seventh spot in the top was taken by Arjay, a little-known streamer with only 652 followers. For some reason, a clip where he spent almost a minute trying to kill an opponent in League of Legends ended up gathering as many as 828 thousand views. Both players kite and heal until Arjay dies, with neither showing particularly remarkable performance. Nevertheless, they did hit the top of Twitch clips of 2020!
#6 — Trainwrecks (clip by acm_)
Twitch dramas over DMCA and content deletion are rather widespread. The record companies regularly file complaints about the misuse of music by the live streamers. However, not all music performers are as zealous, as shown by the example of rapper 21 Savage.
In June, the streamer Trainwreck asked the performer for permission to use his tracks on broadcasts and received the go-ahead! The content creator found out about this right during the broadcast, and became delighted – the video of this gathered 946 thousand views. By the way, in December 21 Savage made a similar gesture allowing the streamer neekolul to play his music.
#5 — Ohlana (clip by chaoticjoey11o)
Regretfully, Reckful wasn't the only content maker to take his own life in 2020. Two days after Bernstein's death, Canadian streamer Ohlana, who also struggled with depression, committed suicide.
After Ohlana's death, one of the clips where she greets her subscribers was circulated on the Internet. While being comparatively unremarkable, the video collected 957 thousand videos – although this time, for a rather sad reason. A similar clip exists on the Reckful channel, but it was not included in the selection due to gathering only 513 thousand views.

#4 — ironmouse (clip by PaladinsPlay)
Think only the real people are streaming? Think again! In August 2017, Ironmouse, a Puerto Rican virtual streamer with the slogan “I love you so much, you have to die,” appeared on YouTube and Twitch. Sounds strange? You bet it does.
In any case, Ironmouse loves to sing very much. The clip containing one of her songs, performed in Spanish, has gathered as much as 1.05 million views!
#3 — FerociouslySteph (clip by chrisbee420)
In the spring, Twitch was engulfed in another scandal erupting over… a transgender furry girl who criticized voice chat in gaming, as she finds it unfair towards some of the players. At the time, Steph “FerociouslySteph" Loehr (that’s her name) was on the Twitch’s safety advisory council.
During the scandal, it was this very strange clip that attracted much attention of users of reddit and social networks, totaling 1.1 million views. We leave it up to you to figure out what the hell is happening there.
#2 — fps_shaka (clip by Riki156)
Fps_shaka is a streamer that’s fairly popular among the Japanese, and mostly plays shooters (as hinted by his nickname). He rose to prominence during the heyday of PUBG, but eventually moved on to Apex Legends.
Fps_shaka rather scared the audience during one of his broadcasts, due to suddenly losing consciousness while being on the air. As it turned out later, this was not the first time something like that has happened to him. The content creator already underwent MRI, which found no issues. The doctors think that the Japanese suffers from an unexpected drop in blood pressure, which may be caused by a lack of exercise. The clip scored 1.7 million views.
#1 — xQc (clip by Toosks)
So here we are at the most popular clip of 2020, starring xQc who managed to lose a chess game in just a minute, with Cr1TiKaL giving him an easy checkmate.
The gist of the clip lies in the fact that xQc was coached by Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, and it was the latter who commented on the meeting. Nakamura casually commented on the moves of the players – but only until he saw the fatal error of xQc. At that moment he instantly fell silent, freezing with his mouth open. Naturally, the chat became filled with OMEGALUL emoticons. The clip scored a total of 1.9 million views.
