MrBeast joins Kick, will host fundraising livestream with xQc and Adin Ross

MrBeast joins Kick, will host fundraising livestream with xQc and Adin Ross

Early on August 12, Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson shocked the world by announcing on social media that he is joining Kick. Moreover, one of the world's most famous content creators and YouTube's most subscribed-to influencer will debut on the platform by organizing a livestreaming marathon for the first time. This broadcast will feature two other prominent North American streamers as the trio will look to raise money for a philanthropic cause.

This news came as a shock to many, as MrBeast has been loyal to the red platform since his breakout online in the late noughties. The American YouTube sensation even kept away from the recent trend of influencers multistreaming across services, but things are about to change, at least for one star-studded broadcast.

Why is MrBeast joining Kick?

YouTube's most subscribed creator is making this move to support (and accelerate) one of his causes. He will broadcast on the Stake-backed livestreaming service with the ambitious goal of raising $5 million for TeamWater.

MrBeast launched TeamWater alongside Mark Rober earlier this month, with this global campaign aiming to raise $40 million by August 31 to provide clean water to two million people worldwide. However, with almost half the month gone, collections have totaled just over $15 million, meaning things are slightly behind schedule.

As a result, the 27-year-old decided to take things up a notch by joining Kick for a joint stream on his channel with platform superstars Adin Ross and xQc on August 14. Their goal is an ambitious one — to raise $5M for TeamWater — with MrBeast stating that he won’t stop streaming until they collectively raise $5 million.

It is unclear what they will do during this much-hyped livestream, but there are sure to be gaming and vlogging sessions. There are also no details on whether this joint broadcast will be a one-time event or if MrBeast will be a regular presence on Kick. He did joke that, "Hopefully it doesn’t take days to reach their $5 million target."

Kick even put up its now-famous post on X welcoming MrBeast to the company. The star streamer himself put up posts across his social media, sharing the news and asking fans to tune in to the joint livestream featuring three of the world's most renowned Western creators.

The company also revealed a bit later that it had donated $2 million to the TeamWater campaign. This will not, however, count toward the $5 million that MrBeast will look to raise during his debut livestream on Kick for his latest charity project.

What is TeamWater, and who is Mark Rober?

For those not in the know, Mark Rober is an American influencer, engineer, inventor, and educator known for his YouTube videos on popular science and do-it-yourself gadgets. He is also a former engineer with NASA who spent seven years working on the Curiosity rover, which landed on the Moon in 2012.

In the content creation space, he has done collaborative broadcasts with various influencers in the Science and Technology genre. The 45-year-old has also been recognized for his work over the past half a dozen years via nominations and wins at award ceremonies like the Streamy Awards and the Webby Awards.

Meanwhile, TeamWater is an international campaign supported by influencers from over 84 countries, who boast a combined reach of three billion subscribers. It will partner with nonprofit WaterAid to fund sustainable water projects, including solar-powered wells and gravity-fed pipelines.

The effort will focus on regions such as the deserts of Colombia and the mangrove forests of Bangladesh, where WaterAid has ongoing operations. Apart from these regions, the massive fundraiser's goal is to provide two million people worldwide, including across countries like Malawi, Nepal, and even cities within the United States, with clean water for decades.

TeamWater follows similar philanthropic exercises like TeamTrees and TeamSeas from MrBeast and Mark Rober. These large-scale environmental initiatives raised over $50 million to plant 20 million trees and remove 30 million pounds of trash from oceans, rivers, and beaches.

To get TeamWater getting to work quickly, MrBeast and Mark Rober recruited over 3,000 influencers, social media platforms, and even some of the world’s most solvent CEOs to raise $40M by August 31.

MrBeast and his livestreaming exploits

MrBeast has grown exponentially over the last decade to become one of the most recognizable names in the livestreaming field. His videos generally attract thousands of global viewers and often make it into the reel and meme culture seen often on social media today.

As mentioned before, he has been the most subscribed YouTuber since June 2024, and currently boasts an incredible 421 million subscribers. His main channel has 893 video uploads, totaling a massive 93 billion views. Interestingly, he is also the third-most-followed creator on TikTok, with over 119 million followers.

MrBeast has also become popular for his collaborations and game show-style livestreams that bring together other top streamers under one roof. In fact, one of these activities, Beast Games, broke 44 Guinness World Records.

MrBeast has become a trailblazer for livestreaming and how streamers can parlay their success into something that transcends their industry. There is no doubt that, given his reputation and the impact of his work, his Kick livestream will be hugely successful and help add another philanthropic feather to his cap.
