The OTK SMITE Invitational show-tournament, featuring popular content creators from Twitch and YouTube, ended on June 28. The teams, assigned to pro players, competed for the total prize pool of $100K.
OTK SMITE Invitational was organized by One True King, a company that specializes in producing content for digital media. For example, OTK organized a charity event in support of Ukraine and also regularly holds show-matches featuring streamers and bloggers.
Tournament Results
Eight teams competed for the OTK SMITE Invitational title. These teams included such content creators as Mang0, Pokelawls, Lirik, Jerma, EsfandTV, Sanchovies, Lourlo, Mendo, Strippin, Tectone and other streamers. It should be noted that before the tournament almost none of them had played SMITE, which only increased the interest in the event.
Viewership Statistics
OTK participant Matthew ‘Mizkif’ Rinaudo covered the event, but all players could also stream their matches on their personal channels. The Peak Viewers number of all OTK SMITE Invitational broadcasts was 134.2K, with a total of 864K Hours Watched. Most viewers watched the tournament on broadcasts of Mizkif (52.7K PV) and Lirik (28.2K PV).
If we compare OTK SMITE Invitational to professional SMITE tournaments, we can see that the OTK event surpassed even the previous world championships. This was largely because of the "drops" system — viewers could get skins and virtual items directly in the SMITE game for watching broadcasts by tournament participants. We should also remember that streamer events are covered by several popular creators, and because of the greater number of broadcasts, they are often more popular than the top esports events.
