Kyedae takes a break from streaming: Health, Valorant, and what’s next

Popular Canadian streamer Kyedae ‘’Kyedae’’ Shymko has announced an indefinite break from livestreaming. She shared the update with fans on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), explaining that she plans to focus on other areas of her life, including her health, education, and competing in Valorant's Game Changers tournaments.

Kyedae’s decision to stop streaming received widespread support from her peers — including fellow esports professionals and well-known streamers like Imane ‘’Pokimane’’ Anys, Rachell ‘’Valkyrae’’ Hofstetter, and Shylily.

In early 2023, Kyedae was diagnosed with myeloid leukemia. After completing a round of chemotherapy, she returned to streaming on Twitch. By 2024, she had become one of the most-watched female streamers on the platform, amassing impressive viewership through her consistent Valorant streams and tournament coverage.

Her channel ranked among the top 4 in peak viewership for all broadcasters covering VCT 2024: Masters Madrid, the most popular Valorant tournament. Among community casters, Kyedae trailed only Tarik ‘’Tarik’’ Celik, highlighting her growing influence in the competitive Valorant scene.

In 2025, Kyedae’s streaming activity has dropped noticeably, with her channel logging just 215 hours of airtime since the start of the year. Once known for streaming several times a week, she now often takes breaks of 7 to 10 days between broadcasts. Her most recent stream aired on April 12, coinciding with the gameplay reveal of Marathon — the highly anticipated shooter from Bungie.

Despite the sharp drop in stream time during the first quarter of 2025, Kyedae has managed to stay within the top 500 most popular streamers on Twitch. Her channel now boasts more than 3.1 million followers. Her most-popular stream peaked at 148,463 concurrent viewers.

While Kyedae’s streams on Twitch may become even more infrequent soon, fans can still expect to see her competing at Valorant Game Changers tournaments. Supporters are already cheering her on as she continues to champion and uplift women in esports.
