Pokémon Unite: The week on Twitch

Pokémon Unite: The week on Twitch
Share:

Pokémon Unite is a new МОВА from Tencent specifically for the Nintendo Switch handheld console. In our article, we will tell you about the features of the game, its launch on Twitch and the most popular streamers.

Pokémon Unite differs from other representatives of the genre in that the game lacks items to increase the stats of characters in the usual sense. In Dota 2 a character improves his characteristics due to artifacts that are bought in each match and disappear, while in Pokémon Unite, you can buy permanent items for Pokemon and pump them outside the playing field.

In the game, you do not need to destroy buildings to win. You need to kill neutral Pokemon, collect charges and throw pokeballs at the appropriate points on the map.

There are as many as five currencies in the game and many have nicknamed Pokémon Unite Pay2Win game because of the clear advantage of players who donate real money. This point has caused a lot of controversy among the community.

Pokémon Unite: The week on Twitch viewership dynamics

The game itself appeared on the platform on July 21 and on the first day reached 2.5M Hours Watched and 225K Peak Viewers. It is noteworthy that on the second day, the indicators did not change much — 2.4M HW and 222K PV. On the third day, HW decreased by 28%, i.e. the indicator stopped at 1.7M Hours Watched. During the week, the decline continued and HW of the final day amounted to 1.1M, and there were 48K viewers at the peak.

In seven days, the game collected 12.3M Hours Watched, and on average, the Pokémon Unite category was watched by 73K viewers. As for the audience, English-speaking Pokémon fans contributed the most HW — 35.9%. They are followed by Spanish-speaking (18.4%), French-speaking (11.7%) and German-speaking viewers (11.3%).

Pokémon Unite most popular streamers by Hours Watched

The most popular streamer of Pokémon Unite was the German Trymacs with 818K Hours Watched for 40 hours on the air. In second place is the Spaniard elxokas with 591K HW. The first English-language streamer in our top took only the third position. It was moistcr1tikal with 526K Hours Watched. There are only two English-language content makers in the top, and this suggests that the game is more popular with fans of European Twitch creators.

Pokémon Unite most popular streamers by Peak Viewers

The leader in terms of Peak Viewers is the Spaniard Rubius49K people on the broadcast simultaneously. He is followed by the English-language streamers Mizkif and LIRIK with 41K and 30K viewers, respectively. However, it should be noted that Mizkif streamed Pokémon Unite for only two hours, and LIRIK for only five. This suggests that many popular content makers streamed the game for a couple of hours, but then switched to another category. Because of this, viewers left together with the top content maker and this led to a sharp drop in the charts in the days following the release, as streamers did not return to stream the game again.

The launch of Pokémon Unite was not a failure, but it cannot be called the most successful in relation to the results of other new titles, such as the release of the new MMORPG New World, which we talked about in this material.
