The Sidemen charity match had been postponed for the past three years due to the pandemic, but this year marked the event's return. Just like in previous editions, the game took place at The Valley stadium, and brought together some of the biggest content creators in the world to celebrate their love for football, and raise money for four charity institutions. YouTube stars such as MrBeast, Chunkz, Yung Filly, and IShowSpeed, attended the match. Twitch streamers such as PieFace23 and Castro1021, who are very famous in the FIFA community, also participated in the event.

The Valley was sold out, with 27K people of all ages watching the game in person. The viewers were able to watch some entertaining football, full of funny moments, great goals, on-field drama, and some amazing saves. The event was also broadcasted by the Sidemen official YouTube channel, and was watched by other streaming stars such as xQc, or KaiCenat

The YouTube all-stars started the game with a 2:0 lead, with one of the goals coming from a spectacular long-range shot by Chucks. However, the Sidemen were able to equalize with goals from Vikkstar123 and TBJZL. From there on, the game was an absolute goal festival, with both teams having the lead on multiple occasions. In the end, it was the Sidemen that came out on top with an 8:7 win, thanks to an amazing long-range well-place shoot by Miniminter at the 87-minute mark.

During the match, we had a lot o funny moments. IShowSpeed was the protagonist in most of these moments, with the best one coming when the YouTube megastar scored a goal, which was later disallowed because he was offside, and had the whole stadium celebrating with him. Whenever IShowSpeed touched the ball the crowd went crazy, and he was clearly a fan favorite.

The MVP of the event was Miniminter. He scored three goals, with one of them being a late game-winner, and had three assists. He also proved yet again that he is one of the best football players among all the content creators. Miniminter scored his third hat-trick in four Sidemen charity matches, becoming the best scorer in the history of the event.

Sideman charity match viewership stats

The event was broadcasted for a little more than 3 hours, and viewers watched it for 5.4 million hours, just on the official Sidemen YouTube channel. The stream had close to 2.6 million Peak Viewers and 1.3 million Average Viewers. Sidemen official YouTube channel also gained over 100K new followers.

It’s the 4th biggest stream in 2022 by Peak Viewers when it comes to YouTube Live and Twitch. Only the Apple’s showcase, the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard trial, and La Velada Del Año II, the record-breaking PV Twitch broadcast by ibai, had a bigger number of simultaneous viewers.

These are fantastic viewership numbers, and prove that the event was a massive success. Viewers from all around the globe were tuning in to watch their favorite content creators come together and play football for a noble cause.

But, the event wasn't only broadcasted on the Sidemen YouTube channel. Many stream stars such as xQc or KaiCenat, and also other smaller content creators, watched the event live. The xQc broadcast was the biggest of all the streams that followed the event. It had 135K Peak Viewers, who were watching the football match which featured some of the biggest content creators on the planet. All in all, the event peaked at 2.8 million concurrent viewers.

Interestingly, before watching the Sidemen charity match, xQc stream averaged at about 60K simultaneous viewers, and after the match was finished, the stream was watched by 70K ACV. At the same time, KaiCenat, one of the fasters-rising Twitch stars, watched the match live with up to 67.2K Peak Viewers. These numbers show that a lot of viewers were interested in the event, and opted to watch the event with their favorite streamer.

Regardless of where viewers watched the game, the event was a huge success. It attracted a lot of viewers, from all around the world, and was able to raise more than £1 million for charity institutions. These institutions were the Campaign Against Living Miserably, Teenage Cancer Trust, Rays of Sunshine, and M7 Education. The Sidemen charity event is an annual event, so fans can expect a new edition of the event next year if things go as planned. After the most watched edition of the event, the group of content creators will try to make it even bigger and better next year.
