Aion 2 launch saw more viewers than top franchises like Assassin's Creed & Gears of War

Since its launch on October 5, Aion 2 has emerged among Twitch's top games, peaking at 262K viewers. It also outperformed the all-time simultaneous channel count of other prominent 2026 video game releases like Gears of War: E-Day, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and 007 First Light.

Aion 2 is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG developed and published by NC (NCSOFT). Serving as the official sequel to the 2009 hit Aion, the game officially launched its global version on October 5, 2026, for PC via Steam following its initial late-2025 release in South Korea and Taiwan. It also had an early access phase from September 30 to October 4, adding to the worldwide hype.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game's defining feature is its seamless, massive open world where the sky serves as a core battlefield. Soon after launching, it hit almost 400K concurrent players and topped Steam's Top Sellers chart at one point.

  Basic Aion 2 viewership statistics between October 5 and 12   

On Twitch, Aion 2 broadcasts generated 2.46 million Hours Watched on its release day. The game also reached 262,150 Peak Viewers on October 5 as more and more players, including many top streamers, came online to try out this new title.

The title also accumulated 8.8 million watch hours during its five-day early access phase while reaching a peak of 253.3K viewers. This blazing early access start set up the official launch perfectly, as the title climbed up to third among Twitch's most watched games by watch time while also settling within the top five by peak concurrent viewers.  

The hype around Aion 2's open world, which is 36 times larger than the original game, was also seen in its impressive peak channel stat. On its launch day, the title was played across as many as 4,025 channels at the same time, a number beaten only by Fortnite and far exceeding other popular 2026 releases like Marathon, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and 007 First Light.

Sticking with 2026 launches, there were a few other titles that came out around the same time as Aion 2, in early October. However, none of their launch day stats could match Aion 2, as releases like ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE, STAR WARS: Galactic Racer and Gears of War: E-Day all lagged behind in opening viewership.

  Most-watched Twitch games between October 5 and 12   

Stretching the data collected from October 5 to 12, Aion 2 sits as the fourth-most-watched game on Twitch by watch time, having accrued 16.99 million HW. It is also the fourth most popular title for this period by concurrent viewership, outdoing the peak audience for popular titles like Dota 2, Grand Theft Auto V and League of Legends.

These eight-day stats were also much higher than the corresponding numbers for the 2026 releases of more heralded franchises like 007 and Assassin's Creed. Given the ongoing hype, it is highly plausible that Aion 2 enjoys a better 2026 than these famous media names.

  Most-watched Aion 2 channels between October 5 and 12   

Among the streamers who gave Aion 2 lots of time in its first week were Michael "shroud" Grzesiek, Ferit "wtcn" Karakaya and Yuta "stylishnoob4" Seki. Stylishnoob4 was also the only creator whose streams of the game surpassed the mark of 30K PV.

Aion 2's opening stretch has shown that high-profile eastern MMORPG releases can do well globally on Western streaming channels when paired with top-tier creator interest and broad accessibility on Steam. If such interest persists, the title 2 is well-positioned to maintain a consistent presence in Twitch's upper tier through the remainder of the quarter.
