The Hispanic segment of Twitch has seen remarkable growth in the recent year, with multiple streamers placing in the Top 10 Most watched Twitch streamers in 2021. Although the growing viewership trend of Spanish-speaking content creators (based on the Hours Watched indicator) recessed in Q3 2021, it recovered by the end of the year.
To get a better insight into the viewership dynamics of the Hispanic segment on the platform, Streams Charts reviewed viewership performance of the Top 100 Spanish-speaking Twitch streamers during the fourth quarter of 2021 (October-December).
Note: Studio and gaming community channels have been excluded from these statistics.
In Q4 2021, the Top 100 Spanish-speaking Twitch streamers generated 278M Hours Watched, which makes 5.05% of total Hours Watched (5.5BN) accumulated on the platform and 45.9% of total HW (605.6M) generated by all Spanish-speaking Twitch streamers. Compared to the results of Q3 2021, the number of Hours Watched generated by the Top 100 increased by 5.53%.
The country distribution shows Spain as the most represented country among the Top 100 Spanish-speaking streamers, with 66 out of the 100 creators being Spanish.
Mexico is next with 13 representatives, followed by Argentina (11 streamers) and Peru (4 streamers). The Top 100 also includes two Andorrian and two Colombian creators, one from the United States and one from Guatemala.
Accordingly, the largest contribution of Hours Watched was made by streamers from Spain — 204.3M HW, which is 73.5% of the total HW generated by the Top 100. Mexico is second with 32M HW (11.6%), followed by Argentina with 17M HW (6.2%) and Colombia with 15M HW (5.4%).
Most popular Spanish-speaking Twitch streamers
The composition of the Top 10 Spanish-speaking Twitch streamers in Q4 2021 has barely changed since Q3, with only one newcomer to the chart.
However, the placement has rearranged compared to previous quarters and a new leader has been established — David “TheGrefg” Martínez, who is the 10th most watched Twitch streamer of 2021 by HW and also the platform’s leader by Peak Viewers. His presentation of his own Fortnite skin back in January 2021 was watched by more than 2.4M concurrent viewers.
In Q4 2021, TheGrefg’s viewers spent 33.3M hours watching his streams, which is 12% of the total Hours Watched generated by the Top 100. Compared to Q3, TheGrefg’s HW count grew by 165%.
Similarly to the previous quarter, Ibai “ibai” Llanos ranked second with 29.7M Hours Watched, which accounts for 10.7% of the total Hours Watched generated by the Top 100. Compared to Q3 2021, Ibai’s HW growth went up by 12.49%. Moreover, he reached the highest viewership peak among the Top 10 in Q4 — 801K concurrent viewers tuned in to his New Year’s Eve broadcast on 31st December. The stream broke his personal record and ranked as his second most successful Twitch stream to date.
The next is Raul “auronplay” Genes, who for the first time in 2021 dropped from the leading position to third place. With 29.2M Hours Watched (10.52% of the total HW by the Top 100), his viewership decreased by 12.36%. That said, auronplay saw remarkable growth in 2021 (73.3%) and jumped from sixth to third place in the overall 2021 rankings.
The rest of the streamers who earned a spot in the Top 10 Spanish-speaking Twitch creators are juansguarnizo, Rubius, Jelty, elxokas, IlloJuan, ElMariana and xXxTheFocuSxXx, who is the only newcomer to the chart.
Most popular female Spanish-speaking Twitch streamers
Just like in the case of male streamers, the composition of the Top 10 female Spanish-speaking Twitch streamers chart remains unchanged in Q4 2021 except for one spot — Abril “littleragergirl” Capriles, who generated 1.3M Hours Watched and ranked seventh.
The leader among girls is IJenz who jumped from tenth place in Q3 to the current first place. In 1 939 hours of Air Time, she garnered 2.7M Hours Watched (0.98% of the total HW by the Top 100), showing a cosmic 300% growth in Q4.
The second place remains occupied by IamCristinini with 2.5M Hours Watched (0.91% of the total HW by the Top 100), which is 2.11% less than her HW count in Q3. She’s also the only Spanish-speaking streamer that got into the Top 10 Female Twitch Streamers of 2021, placing fourth with over 15M HW accumulated throughout 2021.
LakshartNia was third with 2M Hours Watched (0.74% of Total Top-100 HW), followed by biyin_, Staryuuki, AriGameplays, littleragergirl, Nissaxter, Mayichi and NimuVT.
Most popular categories
In Q4 2021, the audience of the Top 100 Spanish-speaking Twitch creators preferred watching broadcasts in Minecraft and Just Chatting categories, generating 63M and 58.5M Hours Watched, respectively.
The Top 10 categories in Q4 also included Fortnite (16.7M HW), League of Legends (14.4M HW), Special Events (12.7M HW), VALORANT (10.1M HW), Clash Royale (8.3M HW), Roblox (6.5M HW), Sports (5.2M HW) and Among Us (5M HW).
When it comes to audience overlap, viewers of the Top 5 tend to overlap to a rather high degree. The most engaged with the rest of the Top 5 is Rubius’s audience — 62.25% of his viewers also watched Ibai, 61.76% watched TheGrefg, 55.19% watched auronplay and 42.64% watched juansguarnizo. Conversely, the least engaged with the rest were TheGrefg’s and ibai’s viewers. The lowest audience overlap have ibai’s viewers with juansguarnizo’s viewers — only 27.56% of ibai’s audience also watch juansguarnizo’s streams.
All in all, the Top 100 Spanish-speaking Twitch creators have seen only slight growth in viewership in Q4 2021, while the composition of the leading creators within the group stayed approximately the same. That said, the Hispanic segment is one of the fastest-growing groups on Twitch, so its viewership is likely to continue rising in the following quarters.
