TenZ and Kyedae break up after years together, both share statements

TenZ and Kyedae break up after years together, both share statements

The streaming community is processing a significant shift as longtime partners Kyedae “Kyedae” Shymko and Tyson “TenZ” Ngo have officially announced the end of their relationship. After six years together, the couple revealed that their decision to part ways was reached mutually and occurred some time ago, despite the news only recently becoming public. This transition marks the end of a partnership that began when they were just teenagers and saw them grow into two of the most influential figures in the gaming world.

Kyedae addressed the situation with transparency, explaining that the separation stemmed from a shared realization regarding their personal development. Having lived and worked together since the very start of the relationship, their lives became so intertwined that they eventually felt their individual growth had plateaued. By choosing to move forward separately, both streamers hope to rediscover their personal identities outside of the collective "power couple" narrative that has defined much of their young adult lives.

Combatting online speculation

In the wake of the announcement, both creators have been forced to push back against a wave of misinformation and "tea" seeking. TenZ took a firm stance against the "false narratives" circulating online, particularly those targeting Kyedae. He explicitly debunked rumors suggesting she influenced his decision to retire from professional Valorant, clarifying that his career shift was a personal choice driven by evolving goals. He characterized the attempt to measure or compare sacrifices within their relationship as immature and unhelpful to their current situation.

The call for empathy is underscored by the reality of Kyedae’s ongoing health journey. TenZ reminded followers that she is still navigating significant medical challenges following her 2023 cancer diagnosis, making the influx of public negativity particularly disheartening. Both creators emphasized that there is no hidden drama or singular event that caused the split; rather, it was the natural outcome of two people growing in different directions over time. They remain on supportive terms and are asking the community for the privacy and respect needed to navigate this new chapter.

Kyedae and TenZ in livestreaming

Kyedae and TenZ have built highly successful careers in the content creation industry. Both are among Twitch’s top streamers, with approximately 3.1 million and 4.5 million followers, respectively. They have consistently appeared in our monthly rankings, including lists of Canada’s most popular streamers and the leading community casters at major Valorant tournaments.

In 2024, Kyedae ranked among the top five most-watched female streamers on Twitch and even surpassed TenZ in total hours watched within the Canadian rankings. She remained an active streamer until spring 2025, when she announced a hiatus. Kyedae explained that she plans to shift her focus to other aspects of her life, including her health, education, and involvement in Valorant’s Game Changers tournaments.

After stepping away from the professional Valorant scene, TenZ quickly established himself as a popular streamer and community caster. He regularly broadcasts professional matches and occasionally participates in show tournaments. One notable example came at the Valorant Game Changers Championship 2025, where TenZ and Kyedae played together on the same team in a showmatch.
