It's been a long wait for fans of the iconic Grand Theft Auto series for the next main instalment to arrive, with the last game in the series, GTA V, now into its 12th year. There was a breakthrough at the end of 2023 when Rockstar Games was forced to reveal the first look of the upcoming title earlier than intended due to a series of unforeseen online leaks.
At that time, the new game, Grand Theft Auto VI, was slated for a Fall 2025 release. We are currently in the second month of the new year, and while the American video game giant has not officially disclosed any more news, fans may just have received a news boost from an unlikely source.
During its latest financial results earnings call, Corsair Gaming's financial VP Ronald van Veen said this about the game:
"Yeah, GTA VI is probably the one everyone is talking about. And we'll get a glimpse of that, I think, later on in the year for console. My understanding now (is) it's going to come out in the Fall for console, and then early 2026 for PC."
- Ronald van Veen, Corsair Gaming's Financial Vice President
This statement seemingly confirmed another rumour that has been doing the rounds recently: that a PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 is on, even though the game hasn't officially been announced for the platform. This bit of news also backs up what Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar Games' parent company Take-Two Interactive, said in an interview earlier this month that the company was confident the highly-anticipated game would not get delayed beyond its Fall 2025 date.
In the 14-odd months that fans have been waiting for GTA VI since its first trailer came out, players and content creators have continued to enjoy the current title and its Online component when looking at livestreaming viewership. It remains the only game to see green in Hours Watched (HW) and Peak Viewers (PV) for this period as compared to the previous 14-month block.
Some of the biggest creators globally remain enamoured by its vast open-world and almost unlimited storyline possibilities. With it being reported by research firm DFC Intelligence that Grand Theft Auto 6 could generate more than $1 billion from pre-orders alone, likely making it the biggest launch of 2025 in all of entertainment, the continued interest and loyalty of the GTA fanbase will be key to making this prediction a reality.
