Sponsored content is a major part of today’s live-streaming exercise, with many top content creators getting into strategic partnerships with companies that provide visibility to both parties. This helps them gain extra income while also pushing out products and services that could genuinely be helpful to audiences and people globally. With that in mind, here are the streamers with the most-watched sponsored content on Twitch and YouTube in March 2023.
Most watched sponsored Twitch streams in March 2023
The channel with the most watched sponsored stream for March on Twitch is PaulinhoLOKObr, whose ad of the Amazon Prime Video TV series 'Dom' when live streaming his favorite game, Grand Theft Auto V Roleplay (GTA V RP), raked in 232K Hours Watched. It included watch parties where the top word in the chat was prime, while the engagement rate stood at a solid 14.1%. This ended up being the only Portuguese entry on this list, although it was top of the pile.
The second most watched sponsored stream is from the usual suspect IlloJuan, whose promotion of Supercell’s Clash Royale also led to a promo competition in this game. El Clashico: France vs Spain was a tournament between content creators from these two countries in different Clash Royale game modes, with the winner taking home €50,000. The former side ended up victorious, while the Spaniard’s broadcast ended up doing 228K HW and a massive 130K total messages in the chat.
Coming in third place is TheGrefg, another massive name in the streaming industry, whose combined Fortnite and Clash Royale stream (same as IlloJuan) did 163K HW. The Spanish creator was also part of the El Clashico: France vs Spain event that he lost, but he did rake in a hefty 188K Unique Authorised Viewers for the broadcast. After all, there is a reason he is one of the most followed streamers on the purple platform.
Next comes one of the most famous names in the VTubing circle, ironmouse, who suffers from common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), an immune disorder that has left her largely bedridden. Her sponsored steam for NordVPN, a popular online VPN service for speed and security, recorded 91K HW, while it also played parts of CDawgVA's second cyclethon, which raised $550K for the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF).
Rounding off the top five is Hype, whose advertisement for PressA's Dead Cide Club, a free-to-play, side-scrolling game released on February 27, brought in 90K HW. The Turkish streamer also had a reality show broadcast during this time, but most of it was gameplay from the new shooter, which sees players choose their cartels and use special skills and weapons to battle monsters and other gamers to be the last ones standing.
Most watched sponsored YouTube Gaming streams in March 2023
On top of this list is Sykkuno, the popular content creator whose sponsored stream of Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel did 35K HW. The game was celebrating its first anniversary, with viewers encouraged to download it, log in, and claim rewards. There was even a Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Tournament where the American streamer and other popular internet personalities participated.
Next comes fuslie, one of the most famous female streamers around, who also teamed up with Konami for Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s 1st Anniversary Invitational. Her broadcast did 22K HW, while she also participated in the tournament and even beat Sykkuno during their match. The 100 Thieves content creators’ repeated appearance on lists like this is proof of her enduring popularity and her ability to churn out quality content regularly.
Typical Gamer is third here, as his broadcast for Bungie’s massively-popular action role-playing, first-person shooter, Destiny 2, registered 21K HW. The game’s latest major expansion, Lightfall, dropped on February 28, and the Canadian streamer ran a sponsored stream that started with him playing Fortnite before moving to the main game. He had topped this list for January and February, so it must be a relief for his peers to see him drop down this time.
Ludwig, one of the biggest names in content creation today, came in next, and he is the third and last entry on here who benefitted from Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s 1st Anniversary Invitational. He was also part of the tournament that saw fuslie and Sykkuno go head-to-head, where he gave away $100 to viewers for each loss and ended up with 20K HW. The broadcast actually started with clips of him watching bed bugs-related content before moving to the free-to-play digital collectible card game’s activities.
Valkyrae is the last name on this list and is one of the four to make the top five back-to-back, alongside the three names directly above. Her sponsored stream was for Paramount Pictures’ film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which was released on March 31. Interestingly, it was the same sponsored content that got her to the second spot last month, while the broadcast also consisted of a 3v3 Valorant game against her fellow content creators.
The fact that four YouTube streamers made the list for February and March, while one has been on all three lists this year, points to the popularity of certain names and the clout they bring to companies interested in using their streams to promote their products. It is a harder game staying on the top in Twitch, but that is what makes it a challenging profession.
