Twitch will continue to introduce local pricing for paid subscriptions. Previously, regional prices were introduced for users in Mexico and Turkey. Twitch representatives announced the decision to continue lowering sub prices in the official blog.
Twitch announced plans to introduce local pricing for subscriptions on May 17. During the year, the platform plans to lower prices for a number of countries in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, as well as in Europe. Company will cover the losses of streamers from the innovation. The first three months in full, then reducing the compensation by 25% every three months.
The first changes were implemented in Turkey and Mexico — since May 20, the prices of subscriptions in these countries have been reduced to 9.9 liras ($1.2) and 48 pesos ($2.4) respectively. Two months later, the company said viewers began gifting five times more subs, сompared to the three months prior to local sub pricing.
Some Russian-speaking streamers began receiving emails from Twitch, saying that the service will reduce subscription prices in their region "over the next few weeks". Earlier, the platform also conducted a similar experiment in Brazil — according to the service, the revenues of the country's content makers doubled.
