When it comes to Twitch streaming, May has been quite fruitful: an all-time record set by Ibai, a separate pool category, and the sudden rise of GTA V, which is almost catching up with “Chatting” in terms of hours watched. In our new article, Streams Charts will tell you about the platform's results in May 2021.
The most popular categories in May 2021
Compared to April, Just Chatting lost 4M hours watched. In May, the category was filled with hot tub- and pool-based streams. The situation became controversial and started spiraling out of control – so, at the end of the month, Twitch created the separate Pools, Hot Tubs & Beaches category for this kind of content.
Grand Theft Auto V continued to show growth on the platform. In May, its indicator was improved by 6%, which is equal to a whole 14M hours watched. During one of the weeks of May, the game even managed to overtake Just Chatting. This category may be the one to break the “Chatting’s” streak soon.
Valorant, the shooter from Riot Games, has climbed two spots thanks to the Valorant Champions Tour 2021. You can find more details about the results of this esports competition in the following article.
Dota 2 was pushed out of the top 10 by the Resident Evil Village. Earlier we talked about the new part of the "Resident Evil" series in our blog.
