However, in Japan, the developer's homeland, the game showed poor retail sales. A total of 149 thousand physical copies were purchased, while Resident Evil 7 sold 35% more during the same time.
How did Resident Evil: Village perform in its first week on Twitch?
The official release of the game took place on May 7, but some streamers had the opportunity to play the day before. So, on May 6, the game gathered 460K Peak Viewers and 4.2M Hours Watched. On release day, the PV increased by 53% and HW by 95%.
There is a decline in the following days because the storyline isn’t so long, as you need 10 hours on average to finish the game. Thus, by the fourth day, popular streamers finished the game. We should note that many gamers first watch the broadcasts and then decide whether to buy the game. This factor also influenced the decrease in the number of viewers.
The game has collected 30.1M Hours Watched for the release week. Also, the audience of the game was quite diverse: 45.8% of HW was brought in by English-speaking viewers, and 9.7% of HW goes to Spanish viewers.

English streamer Maximilian_DOOD became the leader by Hours Watched - 522K in 26 hours of airtime. Sapnapalt is in second place - 497K HW. Among all the personalities of the top, Distortion2 spent the most time in the game, almost 74 hours.
As for the peak viewers, Rubius from Spain is in the lead here — 73K simultaneous viewers on the broadcast. Sapnapalt is the leader among English-speaking streamers — 64K spectators. Portuguese-speaking audience preferred Alanzoka, while French fans mostly watched Squeezie.
