Hot tub on Twitch: Viewership stats, most popular streamers and controversy of the meta

Hot tub on Twitch: Viewership stats, most popular streamers and controversy of the meta
Share:

Recently, streaming of girls in pools has become very popular on Twitch. They communicate with the audience, take drinks and do various actions for donations (for example, write the subscriber's name on a pool toy or on their body). Streams Charts tells you when hot tub streams became popular, who is fastest growing Twitch channel and why guys can also collect a lot of viewers on streams in the pool.

We looked at the number of mentions of the phrases ”Hot tub”, ”Victoria ('s) Secret”, ”Bikini“ and ”OnlyFans" and, as we can see, the surge on the platform occurred at the end of March, and the peak in hours watched was achieved on April 12-18, during which time streams with mentions of these keywords got 1.8M HW.

For comparison, in March, the total number of hours watched with these words in the title had 2.8M HW, but in April this mark increased by 159%, to 7.4M HW.

Let's take a closer look at streams. 82% of streams with “Hot Tub” in the title (case insensitive) were in the Just Chatting category. Also, streams with the mention of pools appeared in the GTA V, Valorant, and League of Legends categories.

88.7% of the streams were English-speaking (it is worth considering that many girls from other countries (for example, the CIS) specifically streamed to the English viewers for greater audience coverage), and 5% of HW were brought by German-speaking streams.

Not only girls like to swim in the pool, for example, moistcr1tikal relaxed in the pool with friends, opened Yu-Gi-Oh cards and ate a cake in honor of 8M subscribers on his YouTube channel.

Streamer PaymoneyWubby went even further — he conducted the broadcast in a real jacuzzi together with Amouranth and CodeMiko in an online format.

JakenbakeLIVE from Loaded has not passed by either. His stream can be called a full-fledged cosplay on Amouranth due to a red wig, and he was accompanied by 3D girls in the pool.

Who is the most popular streamer by the pool?

Counted streams with "Hot Tub" mention only

Amouranth is an honored leader of the rating. Her broadcasts in the pool lasted 211 hours and during this time she reached 2.6M hours watched. She also attracted the most viewers at her first broadcast in the pool — 31.5K people. The more viewers, the more subscribers, given that the girls performed various tasks for paid subscriptions. In April, the Amouranth channel got 378K new followers.

37% of Amouranth viewers watch Indiefoxx content, 22% — taylor_jevaux and 18% watched Faith.

Note the rapid growth of Faith. In February, she was watched by 378 people on average, and in March, the mark increased to 7.4K viewers. In April, her airtime increased by 71 hours, but most importantly, her channel was followed by 218K people in a month. 70% of Faith's audience watches Amouranth, and 60% watches Indiefoxx.

In fourth place came the guy Quin69, who wanted to start his stream in a jacuzzi, but for technical reasons it did not work out. His preview stream got 350K hours watched.

Youtuber RiceGum got into the rating. He also decided to hype on the pool topic and invited another streamer, Edin Ross, for a joint swim. On April 15, he attracted 31K people on a stream, where he tried to install a pool and invite girls, but this was not successful and as a result there was no stream in the pool.

Considering the intersection of the audience, we can conclude that the audience of the girls is far from new, a certain segment of Twitch simply moves from one girl's stream to another.

Have the pool streams gone too far?

Many streamers have begun to voice their dissatisfaction with the dramatic surge of this kind of broadcast on the platform. For example, Asmongold raised an important question about the explicit sexualization of cosplay, body art, hot tub socializing, and sports.

This opinion is shared not only by the male part of Twitch, women are also arguing about the appropriateness of these streams.

According to Twitch's policy, streamers can wear swimsuits in suitable places (beach, pool). On April 28, Twitch broadcast “Let's Chat” to discuss the platform's plans, the new show, and of course the problem of pool streams. Markus "djWHEAT" Graham, head of Twitch creator development, said that the platform is closely monitoring the situation, but the girls' streams and appearance comply with the platform's rules. He also noted that in case the viewer does not like such content, he has the right to hide it or complain if the content is not in accordance with the platform's policy.

At the same time, Twitch began to take measures: Indiefoxx, Kiaraakitty and Kaellyn were banned, but they were unblocked a few days later. Indiefoxx has been suspended from streaming for the fourth time in four months. The last ban was from 7 to 10 April for the fact that the girl wrote the names of paid subscribers on her chest.

This raised a lot of questions, as other content-makers are blocked for 30 days or forever for lesser misconduct, and the girl was unbanned in just three days for obviously sexual content. Asmongold cited the situation with Forsen at the end of 2020, when the streamer was banned for accidentally showing an obscene GIF. His channel was restored a month later thanks to another showdown on social networks.

In addition, streamers began to violate Twitch's rules by spamming users in private messages with their adult social media pages, such as OnlyFans.

If you go through the channels of the above-mentioned female streamers, you will notice that they remove all VODs from their pages, apparently in order not to be banned.

At the same time, the girls do not miss the opportunity to hype on scandals, for example, Faith set a controversial name of the broadcast, judging by which she was going to discuss the scandal with Indiefoxx, but in fact the girl quickly changed the name and made a regular stream.

The problem is not in the girls and streams in the pool but in the regulations of Twitch broadcasts, given the popularity of IRL content lately. The platform needs to review the restrictions or introduce 18+ categories for verified users.

On the one hand, such content attracts an incredible number of new users and improves the popularity of the platform. On the other hand, the platform can expect a decrease in advertising revenue, since not all brands will want to be placed on streams with sexual connotation, not to mention morality and the fact that there are enough underage users on the platform.
