TwitchCon San Diego is just a handful of weeks away, and as we get closer to the big weekend, the anticipation among fans continues building. The semi-annual convention will return to the United States from October 17 to 19, bringing with it fun games, get-togethers, and a host of other activities.
Over a hundred streamers will be present at TwitchCon San Diego, including prominent names like Ludwig "Ludwig" Ahgren, Alexander Leon "bbnogames" Gumuchian, Leslie "fuslie" Fu, and Emily "emiru" Schunk. This list will continue to be refined as we approach the event, but it already appears impressive.
When it comes to the events that will take place, there are numerous options for fans to sink their teeth into. The panels and workshops, meet-and-greets, and Artist Alley are all regular features of the TwitchCon experience, becoming indelible parts of the event's experience.
Meanwhile, the esports experience comes from Twitch Rivals, which is usually the highlight of the weekend for many. And that is what Streams Charts will expand on in this article, giving readers and gamers every detail about the Twitch Rivals events.
So far, four competitions have been disclosed, and fans can catch their favorite streamers competing live at the Twitch Rivals Arena or tune in from home on the official Twitch Rivals channel. We'll keep updating this article if and when any more showdowns are added to the already-packed schedule.
hard_mode ft. Marvel Rivals
This high-stakes competitive event features the popular game Marvel Rivals and some of the most prominent favorite streamers. It will be held on Friday, October 17, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM PDT and will feature 36 players divided into six teams of six.
These sides will compete in three separate Show Matches for a massive prize pool of $210,000 up for grabs, with $70,000 allocated to each Show Match. Some of the renowned influencers participating in this event are Kris "Swagg" Lamberson, Fiona "fanfan" Fan, Thomas "Sykkuno", and Janet "xChocoBars" Rose.
The "Hard Mode" Twist: The event will use varied formats across the three Show Matches, including:
- A standard best-of-three with map pick/bans.
- A match using ranked pick and bans.
- A match incorporating an IRL Mini-Game Challenge at the start to determine a gameplay advantage.
Operation: Map Breakers ft. GeoGuessr
Bringing the weird and wonderful world of GeoGuessr to the Twitch Rivals arena, Operation: Map Breakers ft. GeoGuessr will "arm creators with a vast world map as they compete in insane mini missions that challenge their strength, cunning, and intelligence." It will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM PDT.
This isn't just a standard GeoGuessr competition; it's a unique, narrative-driven event with a "spy thriller meets geography quiz" theme: The event revolves around a mystery where "Somebody stole the crown Jewel of Twitch!" and teams must compete to find it and solve the mystery.
This six-stage competition will feature four teams of four players (16 players total). The stages alternate between GeoGuessr rounds and unique IRL Challenges that test participants' brains, endurance, and bluffing skills.
It all culminates in a Finale Challenge, where a total prize pool of $50,000 will be on the line. Some of the top creators participating include Warwick "Zoil" Badminton, Rudy "Yugi2x" Arzu, and Bryce "Arky" Justice.
Sajam SLAM ft Street Fighter VI
Sajam SLAM ft Street Fighter VI is a major Fighting Game Community (FGC) event hosted by popular fighting game commentator and streamer, Stephen "Sajam" Lyon. It's a high-energy, throwback tournament that puts a unique team spin on the classic fighting game format.
It will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM PDT as a 4v4 team tournament with a double-elimination bracket. 20 participants in total will be split into four teams of five (four players + one coach) for a $50,000 prize pool.
The twist is the Coaches' Match; if a team match is tied 2-2, the coaches will face off in the final game to decide the winner. Apart from the official Twitch Rivals channel, fans can also catch the action live on Sajam's Twitch channel.
MC Championship
The MC Championship (MCC) is one of the most highly anticipated events at TwitchCon, bringing the chaos and creativity of competitive Minecraft minigames live to the Twitch Rivals stage. This year, the event is titled MC Championship: The Copper Crown and will include streamers like Gabriel "Shadoune666" Perez, Hannah "hannahxxrose" Rose, and Aldo "aldo_geo" Hernández among the combatants.
It will emanate from the Twitch Rivals Arena on Sunday, October 19, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM PDT. The fifth live iteration of the MC Championship, held as a partnership between Noxcrew and Twitch Rivals, will be crowning a new champion team.
Forty participants will be split into ten teams of four players each. These sides will compete in a pool of six minigames, with the order decided by an in-event vote (similar to the standard MCC format). Points (coins) earned in later minigames will receive a multiplier, ramping up the tension toward the end.
The two highest-scoring teams after the minigames will battle it out in a best-of-five Dodgebolt match to determine the overall champion. The total prize pool is $50,000, and while pride is often the biggest reward in MCC, the winning team will also receive custom Crown trophies.
