During Brazil's 2026 FIFA World Cup match opener against Morocco, YouTube set a new record for peak viewership. Led by the game's livestream on the CazéTV channel, the platform peaked at an incredible 20.2 million viewers.
YouTube Live has now become the first streaming platform to surpass the 20 million total Peak Viewers barrier. The red platform held the previous record at almost 19.6M PV set during the ASEA Championship at the start of 2025.

Meanwhile, Casimiro Miguel's CazéTV touched a huge 12.4 million Peak Viewers during the same Brazil match, setting a new all-time record across livestreaming platforms. It also became the first individual streamer channel to ever peak at over 10 million viewers, playing a massive part in YouTube setting a new platform concurrent viewership milestone.
FIFA's decision to add digital livestreaming rights to its traditional TV broadcasting deal seems to have worked so far. 2026 World Cup matches will also be available on TikTok (parts of matches at a dedicated hub on the app) and via watch parties on the channels of select YouTube streamers.
